How did we end up here

Chapter 8

The water was creeping into my lungs, and I couldn't breathe. The darkness was over taking me.

I suddenly woke up. I was covered in cold sweat, and I didn't know where I was. I felt a hand on my back and a presence beside me. "Ayla are you all right?", I flinched at the sudden sound of someone speaking to me. Then I realized where I was, and I remembered Zane was beside me. "Oh yeah, I'm good go back to sleep.", I told him trying to calm myself down, but it wasn't really working. My heart was beating so fast like I'd just run a marathon. "Did you just have a nightmare?", he asked me. There was no mocking in his voice like I thought there would be. "No, it's fine really. Go back to sleep.", I told him again. "Ayla I can literally hear your heartbeat from here and its way to fast. What was the nightmare about?", he asked with a gentle voice as he came closer to me. I really felt the need to tell him all of a sudden, but I knew I shouldn't, so I just kept my mouth shut.

"It was nothing, really. Its fine. I really need to rest. Good night, Zane.", with that I laid back down and tried to go to sleep. It didn't take long for me to fall back to sleep.

I woke up as my alarm went off. After I woke up from my nightmare I slept pretty well. I wanted to it up, but I felt a weight on my waist. First, I thought it was Alice, but she would have to be laying on top of me and as I looked at the other bed, I saw Alice sleeping peacefully. Now I had to figure out who was beside me. I turned around slowly and found myself staring at Zane. He had his arms wrapped around me and he was still fast asleep. I didn't know what to do. I didn't want to wake him up and I mean I still had a lot of time left. I always put my alarms a little early so I could stay in bed a little more. I don't know, it's just always something I had done.

I knew it was wrong, but I snuggled up closer to Zane's body. It was so warm, and it just felt so good. He smelled really nice, and I rested my head by his chest. I could feel his heartbeat and I was about to go to sleep again but suddenly Alice jumped on top of us. I didn't even realize she woke up. Now I could feel Zane waking up and as I looked up at his face, I realized he was already looking at me. I didn't know what to do. I was cuddling with Zane Anderson who I was supposed to hate. But now that I was looking into his deep brown eyes, I just couldn't stop looking at them.

"Ayla stand up! You have to get ready!", Alice said now jumping up and down. With that I snapped back to reality and realized I was cuddling with Zane. I quickly backed away from him and stood up. I went into the bathroom to get ready and when we were all done, we went to eat some breakfast. As we got there, I saw that most of the girls were already here, and Olga was sitting by a table all by herself. We went to get our food and thankfully it was free, but my nerves were getting worse and worse, so I only put a croissant on to my plate. Alice on the other hand put some pancakes, hard boiled eggs and croissants on to her plate. I had no idea how she was planning on eating all that, but I didn't mind.

As we sat down everyone was staring at Zane. Thegirls where whispering and pointing at him. I just hoped they wouldn't get thewrong idea about us. Olga looked at me like she had a lot of questions. I just gave her a look like I had no answers for her. I looked around but I didn't see Jake anywhere and I hoped he didn't oversleep. I really needed him for today, then I could finally forget about him and about what happened yesterday.

The ice rink was close to our hotel, so we all walked there. I saw Jake waking in the back.  His face was kind of messed up, but he covered most of it with makeup, though I don't know where he got it from.

I was walking with Alice and Zane. Alice was in the middle and Zane and I were on her side. She was holding my hand, and she couldn't stop talking. I don't know why she was so happy all of a sudden. I was just happy that she didn't see what happened yesterday with Jake.
