That morning, Aurora and MJ were speeding down the street, meeting up with Skye in front of the house. "You guys are back." Skye says causing the duo to smile sadly. "We got the call." Aurora says, this made Skye frown.
"Let's just go inside." MJ says as they walk into the house, Skye ahead of the duo. "Um... I'm-I'm sorry. I-I tried to get her to call off the deal." Skye says as they look around the room, noticing the sad faces.
"It's not on you, Skye." Conrad says, finally noticing that Aurora was back. "I know, but she's my mom, so I would get if you guys were angry with me, too. I just can't deal with her right now." Skye says exasperated, this made Jeremiah wrap an arm around his cousin.
"Hey, no one's mad at you, Skye." Jeremiah says as Aurora movies to stand next to Conrad, looking around at all the faces in front of her. "So, what? We're supposed to go home now?" Steve questions from behind her.
"Yeah." Conrad says, this made Aurora frown as she looked down. "It's over." MJ says. "No." Aurora says defiantly, her eyes ablaze with determination.
"Aurora's right. Our-our last memory here can't be this. Everyone miserable and defeated. I mean, this place deserves a better goodbye than that." Belly says. "Like what?" MJ questions, leaning against the counter as she raised a brow.
"My mom came to the beach house with Susannah for the first time after her dad died. And it was supposed to be just the two of them, but Susannah hated how empty the house felt, so she decided to throw a huge party. Everyone was dancing and drinking, and they went swimming at midnight. And Susannah said it was like Gatsby or something." Belly recites her anecdote, everyone smiling softly at the girl.
"So I say that we throw a party, too." Belly exclaims, everyone looking at each other. "I'm in." Jeremiah speaks up. "Me too." Taylor says. "Me three." Skye says. "Why not." MJ says with a smile.
"Oh, I love this for us." Cam says, this made everyone laugh. "You in?" Aurora questions the boy next to her. "I think it's exactly what my mom would have wanted." Conrad says, and there was a long pause hanging in mid air as most of the people in the kitchen looked around.
"She'd love it." Aurora says as she smiles softly. "Great. Okay. Everybody, shower, power nap, and then I'm putting you to work." Belly says as she claps, MJ whooping as she and Aurora walked away.
The two girls sat in the guest room, Aurora getting dressed in summer clothes that Nicole gave her. It made her feel more like her, not Aurora Brown, but Rory. The lovestruck teen who loved her summers at Cousins.
"That outfit looks so amazing on you." MJ says as she sees her friend's attire. A long skirt with a black crop top, a thin cardigan wrapped over her shoulders. But when Conrad walked into the room, noticing the two girls, they all paused.
"Um, do you want to come on a supply run with me?" Conrad questions, mostly towards Aurora. "Sure." Aurora says as she stands up, following behind Conrad towards his red jeep. "Is anyone else coming?" Aurora questions as she buckles in.
"No, that's not a problem right?" Conrad questions, secretly hoping for her to still want to stay with him. "No, of course not." Aurora says with a small smile, Conrad grinning back at her.
When they pulled up to the small store, Conrad hopped out. "Where are you-" "I got this." Conrad says as he holds up his fake ID. Aurora sighs as she holds a hand over her forehead, but she begins laughing as she sees Conrad walk out looking defeated.
"Did he not accept your ID, Mr. Fritz Herbertson?" Aurora questions while giggling, Conrad rolling his eyes while climbing back in. "It's not like you have a fake." Conrad says causing her to unbuckle herself.
"Where are you going?" Conrad questions as she hops out of the car, smiling at him through the open window. "I happen to have a knack at talking through things, you know that." Aurora says with a wink, walking to the store.
Conrad's eyes widened as he watched her walk inside, a small smirk making way to his face. But when he saw her walk out, a small bottle of Arizona tea in her hand, and Jumper trailing behind her with boxes of beer, he gaped.
Conrad began loading it up as Jumper spoke to the girl. "Let's get this in the car quick. And do not get pulled over on the way home, or I'll say you stole it while I was on the john. Okay?" Jumper questions. "You have my word." Aurora says, holding a hand over her heart.
When the cashier walked in, Aurora simply watched as Conrad loaded up the car. "Same flavor?" Conrad questions, the girl nodding. "Same flavor." She confirms. "You still use straws." Conrad says, a slight smile on his face.
"I mean yeah, I don't like-" "The drink dripping down your chin and getting on your clothes." Conrad says, this made Aurora flush slightly, nodding along. "Let's go get some decorations." She whispers slightly, a small smile tugging on her face.
When the duo made their way to the store, Aurora grabbed a cart and grinned at the boy. "Last to fill their cart pays." She says as she races off, Conrad exclaiming after her but to no avail. Aurora giggled as she put inflatable chairs in her cart, streamers, costumes, and anything else you could possibly think of.
"Your cart is so boring." Aurora whines as she looms over Conrad's shoulder. "I'm getting sensible things." Conrad defends, but Aurora scoffs. "It's a party, there's gonna be alcohol and a pool, how sensible are we really going to be." Aurora says as she grabs a boa from a shelf, wrapping it around the boy.
"Now we're talking." She says with a laugh, Conrad shaking his head as he placed flower sunglasses on the girl who posed playfully. But when she noticed the boy wasn't laughing with her she paused.
"Why aren't you laughing?" She questions as she moves the sunglasses to rest on top of her head. "You're beautiful." Conrad says, this made Aurora look down to her shoes. "We should go-" "I mean it Aurora. You're beautiful." Conrad says.
She didn't mean to say it, but it slipped out. "Not beautiful enough for you to stay." The girl walked out of the store and waited for Conrad to come back. The car ride was silent, no small talk or commentary. Pure silence, and neither parties enjoyed it.
