PERSONALITY Cassius would consider himself more of an observer. He tends to look, listen, and wait, while his brother does most of the socializing and connection making. He's become so good at observing that he can catch smallest details of things, meaning if anything changes around him, he will be the first to notice it.
His mind is always running with ideas and thoughts, but he rarely verbalizes them. He prefers to stay quiet, especially around those he doesn't know well. He's hard to crack. Very few people attempt to chat with him because the conversation tends to become very one sided. Simply put: he is a man of few words. When he does speak he's typically very formal and cold. He's not necessarily a mean guy, but his tone can often times be taken the wrong way.
He's extremely educated and intelligent. He prefers conversations with people who have wit and can keep up with all his thoughts. Though he rarely meets people he enjoys talking to. He has a strong sense of whats right and wrong. He stands up for those who need fighting for.
The closer he feels to people, the more he talks and less formalities he uses. When he does feel comfortable he's extremely easy to conversate with.
Cassius is humble and selfless. Because he wasn't born as a royal he doesn't share the same sense of arrogance that most caste one people have. He's more than grateful for what he has, and strongly dislikes when people are unappreciative for what his father & grandfather have given back to the country.
When it comes to his family and the people he cares about deeply he'd put his life on the line for them. He's not afraid of death, and if he were put in a situation where it was save himself or die saving someone else, he'd do the latter.
LIKES - Cassius loves the snow. It's a blessing that the selection is happening in the Winter, becasue that is when he is in the best mood. - He is an avid tea drinker. All kinds, every day. Only hot. - He has a soft spot for animals, especially his own. When he ventures outsuide he tends to make friends with the outdoor creatures. - He loves to swim. He likes the way the water feels against his bear skin. - He reads often, mostly fantasy novels. Any books that can take him to a different world. - He goes on long walks every day and every night. He appreciates the outdoors above all. If he could live in a little log cabin in the middle of nowhere he would. He prefers to be alone. Just him and nature, but he isn't opposed to company as long as he likes the person. - Dark chocolate, climbing trees, playing the piano, watching people preform(songs, dances, instruments, etc.)nighttime, early mornings, any meals shared with his family, peppermint flavored things, flowers, ice skating, world history & having a plan.
DISLIKES - Uncomfortable, surface level, small talk conversations. - Sounds when he's trying to focus on something like playing the piano or reading. - Unwelcome disruptions, coffee, fire, uninvited guests, cocktail parties or really parties in general, doing things off a whim & not planning them, bad walking weather & milk chocolate
BACKSTORY Unlike his elder brother, Cassius was not born into the royal family. Most of his childhood is a blur. He only remembers fuzzy bits and pieces and they come and go. Typically he's haunted by his past in his dreams. From what he remembers he had a mother and a father and a younger sister. His sister must have been a baby because in most of his dreams there's a small wooden cradle rocking. He knows there was a fire. He didn't know if he was in the house or outside of the house when it happened, but he distinctly remembers an image of his childhood home engulfed in flames while he stood paralyzed in a field.
Some of his dreams are happier. In his favorite he's running around in the snow, leaving little foot prints behind him. His father is chasing him, while his mother is laughing and holding his sister in her arms. He can never see their faces, but he can hear their voices distinctly. In those dreams he feels cold, but in his nightmares he feels warm and hot, and that's why he prefers the winter months.
He lived in an orphanage for four years. From the ages of ten to fourteen. Once again, his brain has tucked most of these memories far away. But he remembers being lonely, hardly talking to anyone.
He never understood why he was adopted by the royal family. He was perfectly boring boy with very few unique qualities, but from the moment he entered the castle he's been forever indebted to the Ilexpaca family. He knows how lucky he is to still be alive. Cassius has seen all sides of life, far more than most of the selected will have.
