Kamari: (Kaa-Maa-Ri) F| Moon
Third Person POV:
Kamari Lupin, youngest child of Lyall and Hope Lupin, yawns herself awake in the early morning light, today was her eleventh birthday, July thirty-first. Kamari leaps out of bed as she runs down the stairs, her long brown hair still in a messy bun from where she slept, still in her too small pyjamas with patches on the elbows and knees, still rubbing the tired out of her eyes, jumps out onto the front porch allowing the cold air to hit her.
"Today is the day!" Her older brother Remus says walking out the door, more awake than Kamari is. "Do you think it will come?" Her small voice asks as she stares up at her brother in awe, awaiting his answer so she can ask her to tell yet another story about Hogwarts.
"I'm sure it will, you are the most magical out of all of us." A small laugh leaves her lips.
"More like least magical. I haven't done anything cool accidental or on purpose like..." she trails off counting her fingers. "In eleven years!" She finally calls out flailing her hands around dramatically.
"That's besides the point, tell me about the squid!" She squeals as she plops down onto the dusty porch floor, her legs folded over each other.
"The squid? Okay!" He says thinking in a very dramatic way. "Well he's about eighteen feet wide and twenty feet tall, and his fangs are as big as you!" Remus starts, playfully tickling Kamari.
Lyall and Hope were worried when they found out they were pregnant again, Remus was two, how would he take to sharing everything he owned. How would they financially support two children? As it turns out they had nothing to worry about, Remus has been an amazing brother the entire eleven years Kamari has been alive.
Remus continues his story, and begins another one, ending that one too. The day drags on and Kamari went inside to get ready for lunch, and after she is right outside again waiting on an owl.
Dinner came and ended quicker than she'd like, and soon it was close to midnight and her parents were forcing her to go to bed.
"But muuuuum! What if the owl comes while I'm in bed, how will I get the letter?" She protests.
"If the owl comes while you're in bed we'll save it for the morning, how's that?"
"Fiiiiiine." She says plopping into her bed.
The next morning Lyall and Hope are outside Kamaris door, shaking their heads debating with each other quietly on how to tell her the bad news.
They decide to wait until she wakes up on her own, hoping she'll be in a better mood.
Quite a few hours later Kamari excitedly wakes up and puts on one of Remus' old shirts and a pair of jeans that she has to roll up multiple times. She brushes her teeth and hair, throwing it into a quick little ponytail and putting on her old worn out black converse.
Sliding down the stair rails she lands in front of her parents bouncing on her toes. "Well?" She asks expectantly as Remus walks down the stairs behind her.
Her parents look at each other cautiously before turning back to Kamari. "I'm sorry Kamari," they begin and her face falls.
Hope hands her daughter the supply list. "I know you wanted first hand things this year but the prices have gone up, you're going to need to use your brothers for now." Lyall says a small grin playing on his face as he watches his daughter take the list and jump up and down.
"I thought I wouldn't get it! It's here! Remus it's here! I'm going to Hogwarts!" She jumps into her brother's arms, not caring about having to use his old books. "I'm actually a witch!" She yells excitedly.
He chuckles and spins her around hugging her tightly. "I'm so proud of you Kamari!" He exclaims still hugging his sister, a small breath of relief slipping from his mouth.
First Person POV; Remus Lupin:
I hug my sister tightly, no matter how many times I told her she'd get it she never believed that she deserved to be a witch, saying that she's never done anything and never will do anything amazing. Every time I assured her she will do amazing things at Hogwarts, but as the day drug by yesterday I began to doubt even myself.
I feel so stupid for doubting her, of course she'd be a witch. I bury my face in her neck, both of us laughing as I spin her around. She's a witch!
"Kamari I knew it!"
"I never doubted myself for a second!"
I laugh again, that's a lie.
"We are so proud of you!" Mum says clapping as Pa hugs her.
"We will be off to Diagon Alley later today to fetch your robes, first lets enjoy lunch as a family, the last one in a while since both our children are off too Hogwarts!" Pa says happily.
------
A few hours later once we all finish up lunch and clear our plates, Pa ushers us to the fireplace where we use Floo Powder to get to Diagon Alley.Pa and I step into the book shop to grab my books while Ma and Kamari step into the robe store to get her some new robes.
First Person; Kamari Lupin:
I skip into the robe store with Ma, practically twirling in excitement. "I can't believe it! I'm going to Hogwarts!" I squeal.
I'm walking backwards ranting to Ma about the stories Remmy has told me. "And the squid! Fangs as big as me!" I say laughing before I bump into someone.
I fall to the ground, whereas the person I ran into stayed planted like a wall. "Excuse you." A high pitched voice drawls from the wall I ran into.
"Sorry!" I say picking myself up quickly. I notice immediately the boy I ran into with his shortly cut curly hair and icy grey eyes. Despite his sharp eyes and clean cut the boy had a rather baby face.
Right behind the boy was Remmys friend Sirius. I keep my mouth shut remembering what Remmy told me about their family but I offer a small smile towards Sirius.
"I'm so sorry," I repeat again to the younger boy, he seemed to be around my age, "I'm Kamari, Kamari Lupin." I stretch out my hand to the boy as he looks to his mom for approval, Sirius' eyes glistening with recognition.
The boys mom offers a short nod, almost forced, and the boy takes my hand to shake it. "Regulus Arcturus Black." He shakes my hand firmly before dropping it.
"I'm assuming you're on your way to Hogwarts as well? Being as the fact you're in the robe shop." He says his voice no deeper than mine, I can't help but giggle a little. I've always been used to Remus and his friend's deeper voices so someone my own age is odd. He should have hit puberty by now.
"Yup! Got my letter yesterday!" I place my hands on my hips proudly.
"I got mine June 25. That's my birthday, if you didn't know." He says just as proudly as I did before his mother grabs his shoulder sharply. "Let's go boy." She says as she drags the Black brothers away. I give a slight wave and turn to Ma and continuing my rant as we look through robes.
