About this AU: For those of you that have read the book Hatchet by Gary Paulsen then you know what this AU is but if you have not, it's basically about a boy that survives a plane crash and has to survive on his own till he is rescued. Mine won't be the exact same but it is based off of this book.

~Micheal's P.O.V.~

"Dad, I don't want to go to moms, I don't like her" I was talking to my dad dreading what the summer would bring, trying my best to make him change his mind. He turned his head to me, "Terrence, I said you were going to your mom's and that's finale, I can't stand to listen to Rose whine about you not being over there..." Dad trailed off at the last bit of his sentence, sighing again, "Dad can't you just tell her noooo, I mean your the one who has custody of me, she only wants me there so that she can dress me up as a girl and tell everyone how she has the prettiest daughter."

My father sighed, and I could tell that I was somewhat getting through to him, "Terrence.......your going and that's final" my mouth dropped, "But dad-!", "THAT'S ENOUGH TERRENCE, GO GET IN THE FUCKING CAR". I grabbed my stuff and stomped my way to the car, Clara following behind me, "Terry..she can't be that ba-" I cut her off, "You don't know anything Clara!?" I snapped. She looked hurt, but she didn't say anything the rest of the ride to the airport, when we got there I got out without a word and grabbed my stuff, "Your father got you a private plane for the trip there and back, he wants you to be as comfortable as you can" I turned towards the plane ignoring Clara, "Terry..here's a bag of stuff from Me, your father, and the kids, Chris was paranoid about you going on a plane so for some reason he wanted us to give you somethings, it has, Your Father's hatchet  from your dad, a pocket knife with you name on it from me, your brother put packets of instant food and bottles of water...so if you get hungry I guess, and your sister put extra clothes for some reason, and yes I am aware that they are mostly girl clothes.

I took the bag, but didn't say anything to Clara, I was afraid I would say something I didn't mean to. I turned and walked towards the plane, "Thanks" I said as I got on the plane, I sat in the seat closest to the door. I noticed Clara was smiling as tears begin to prick the corner of her eyes, she looked down at her phone and typed something. As she faded out of view my phone dinged, I looked at it and saw the message was from the family group chat, Chris, Liz, Dad, and Clara had all typed almost the same thing, "I'll miss you". I rolled my eye's and didn't reply, if they were going to miss me this much they wouldn't have sent me away. I put my phone up and looked out the window, Tree's and rivers were pretty much all I could see. "You new to flying?" I jumped at the sudden voice, "Woah! Sorry, didn't mean to startle you". I shrugged him off, he sighed and looked back towards the front of the plane, "I'm Charles, if you need anything alright". "Yeah" I answered and went back to looking out the window at the clouds.

It wasn't long before Charles started back up small talk, me being board, this time I decided to talk back. We talked for about 4 hours until, disaster struck we were flying over the ocean when both the right and the left engines swallowed a flock of birds. I gripped the edge of my seat as Charles seemed to panic, time seemed to stop completely as the plane plummeted towards the sea..no an island, the island was pretty big, big enough to land a plane on if he could get it there. "Terrence right? Look I need you to look out the windows, we can't land in the ocean it's too dangerous so look for a large lake or river" I nodded and shakely stood up looking through all the windows. "There! On our left!" I yelled to Charles, "Good job Terrence" Charles praised in an attempt to keep me calm but I could hear the fear in his voice, that only scared me more.

I looked at my phone and my bag before quickly grabbing it and shoving it in the bag and anything else I had strung out around the plane into the bag. "Terrence, grab onto something or sit and buckle!" Charles yelled, I quickly sat in my seat and buckled it not believing in my grip strength, Charles turned the plane aiming for the lake I pointed it out, I noticed now that the lake wasn't that big, it was big enough for the plane to land in though. I gritted my teeth and squeezed my eyes shut as the plane collided with the water, as scream made it's way up my throat as something heavy fell on me from above, fucking something up in my hip. As the plane stopped moving I looked around and noticed Charles wasn't moving, the plane was also quickly taking on water meaning that the plane floats were not working. I panicked and tried to undo my seat belt as the water reached my calves but the seat belt must have locked when we hit the water.

I panicked more and began to pull on the seat belt hoping it would come loose as the water reached my thighs. "FUCK!" I yelled in frustration, I noticed my bag floating towards me and remembered the pocket knife my Step-mother had left in there for me. As I grabbed the strap and pulled it towards me the water reached my rib cage, I opened my bag and pulled out the knife before closing it so the water wouldn't carry anything out of it. Hooking my arm into the strap as the water reached my neck I began to cut the seat belt across my chest, I had too looked up and took a deep breather as the water covered me completely. Cutting one belt I moved to the other that was across my chest, the water slowed my movements but still I managed to cut the belt and escape I swam to the top of the plane and took another breathe before going under again to check on Charles, I checked his pulse, nothing...he was gone.

Tears begin to form making it even harder to see as the plane sunk lower underneath the surface, I slung my bag over my other shoulder so I could use both hands to swim. The pain in my hip was unbearable as I kicked my feet propelling me out of the shattered windshield of the plane. The water around me became lighter letting me know that I was close to the surface, my lungs burned and my arms ached but I kept telling myself I was almost there. Just as my lungs gave in I broke through to the surface, gasping for air and looking around for shore. Noticing that a sandy area wasn't too far I began trying to swim my way over there, by the time I finally reached the beach I was panting heavily. My arms burned and my hip felt as if it was on fire, I looked at the beach and then back to the plane that only had the tail sticking out and began to sob. I laid my head down on the beach as I felt sleep begin to take me away, this all had to be a bad dream and I would wake up there, Charles, even my Mom, would be there. I would take anyone to hold me right about now.
