Tom and I hadn't been wrong when we said that going any farther than making-out would make things awkward between us. We hadn't gone all the way but we had gone far enough where, while we were back downstairs at the party, we were standing on opposite sides of the room, talking to different groups of people.
I had to admit, I thought that we definitely would have gone all the way seeing as Tom had been naked and I was just left in my panties. Thankfully someone walked upstairs, though, giving us a signal that maybe this wasn't right for us.
"You have to promise that you won't forget about us, okay?" Emma said, returning with two glasses of Diet Coke, one for me and one for herself.
"No, I was actually just planning on cutting off all communications with you two. Especially you Bon-Bon, 'cause we all know how much I hate you." I smiled and looked at Bonnie while I took a sip of my drink.
"Bitch." Typical Bonnie response. I had no choice but to spit my drink back into the cup and laugh.
"Ew, Kenzie! That's disgusting!"
"I'm going to miss you guys so much. You two have honestly made my experience here so great."
"Are we above you're wonderful boyfriend on top rankings?" Bonnie asked, nudging my arm with her elbow.
I looked over my shoulder at Tom. He was laughing with Sam, Harry, and Rupert about something. As I continued to watch him, my smile faded, but I wouldn't have noticed it if Emma didn't say something.
"He is still your boyfriend... right?"
"Yeah... yeah, he's still my boyfriend. It's just... we almost did... stuff a few hours ago and we haven't talked since."
"What kind of 'stuff'?" Bonnie did air quotes around the word 'stuff' to somehow try and make it more dramatic, but I knew she knew what stuff was.
"We almost had sex," I explained anyways. Emma and Bonnie's eyes both widened. "It's not big deal. We ended up not doing it but -"
"But you almost did and now he won't talk to you."
"I'm not exactly putting in that much effort either, Em."
"Yeah, but -"
"We'll talk when we want to." I finished the last of my Diet Coke, completely engrossed in the conversation and forgetting that I had back-washed in it until the glass was empty. "I'll talk to you guys later."
I knew that Emma and Bonnie wouldn't stop questioning me and giving me advice, which was probably what I needed just not right now. I wanted to avoid it. I was right when I said that Tom and I would talk when we wanted to, I just didn't know how long that would be. Besides, this was my going away party and everyone here had accepted the invitation so they must have wanted to see me. I couldn't get around to saying good-bye to everyone if I just stayed and got interrogated. After leaving Em and Bonnie, I was able to make it to 13 groups in just an hour.
"Do you have time for me?" I turned and saw that Rob had popped up behind me.
I smiled. "Of course."
"Good, because with the amount of people at this party I thought that I wouldn't get to see you before you left."
"You're my best guy friend, Rob. I wouldn't go back to America without saying good-bye to you."
Rob smiled and took a step toward me. "You're host family and the Felton's really don't know how lucky they are that they see you so often."
My smile faded ever so slightly as he said this. "You realize that every time we're together you bring up how you're jealous of Tom?"
