Since the first dance lesson, Tom had been more clingy, making it a point it seemed to keep me at a distance from Rob. I had told him that was impossible since Rob and I were friends, but that proved to be the wrong answer. Three weeks had passed since that incident, though and now Tom wasn't clingy as much as before, but he was acting differently... good differently. Currently, he had his arm wrapped around the back of the bench we were both sharing in the indoor commons, his hand draping over my shoulder that was farther from him. He kept removing his arm to clap for Sam, though, who was giving us all a little show by dancing to the music I played off my iPod through a speaker I had brought in. Tom and I weren't the only ones watching, though. Sam had introduced me to some of his friends Janessa and Monica who proved to be more than satisfactory friends. Granted I wasn't on the level of trust with them that I was with my friends back home, but they were good back-ups while here in England.
"That was brilliant, Sam," Janessa gushed.
"This one has true talent!" Harry added pointing at his twin.
"You try and do better, you little prat," Sam challenged. He hit his brother across the head before sitting down next to Janessa.
"Sorry, bro. I really don't feel like dancing around like a slut showing off my wonderful boobs."
Harry pulled up his shirt showing off his chest and winked at his brother. Everyone died laughing and that only escalated when Sam went over and sat on Harry's lap giving him a fake flirtatious look. It was hard to remember that they were brothers the way they acted with each other.
"Why don't you dance?" Tom asked me. "You actually have some talent."
"Whoa! Are you saying you didn't think that was good, Tom?" Sam sounded genuinely horrified.
"That was brilliant, Sam, really, but I would much rather watch a female move like that."
Sam made a creepy face and looked from Tom to me. "Is there a specific female in mind, Tommy boy?"
"I just said that I thought McKenzie should dance, did I not?"
"Come on, Kenzie! We've heard all about your dancing," Monica added.
"You have?" I gave Tom a look. He was the only one who had seen me dance and it was at practices and once when we were hanging out.
"Tom likes to brag," Harry shrugged.
"About what?"
"About getting sexy wom -"
"Do you want to dance?" Tom interrupted.
I looked around at the hopeful group and sighed. "Sure. Can you put on the song Goodies, Monica? It's the song I was doing for a routine back home."
I got up from my seat and walked out to the middle of the square that the benches were making, my friends cheering me on and clapping a little bit. I really hoped that I still remembered this dance. It had been months since I had done it. But when the music started to play, I found that it was really easy to remember; all the moves just came flooding back into my memory. All my friends were clapping along to the beat and occasionally cheering when I did moves that they liked. I was glad that it was a short dance because I was beginning to feel embarrassed from all the attention.
"Take notes, Sam," Tom said once I was finished and Monica turned down the music so we could all talk again.
"Yeah, that was absolutely brilliant," added a sarcastic voice to my right. I turned and saw Olivia, Tessa, and Amelia heading down the hall towards us. Anthony, Olivia's boyfriend, was also there, his arm linked with the devil's.
