The tension between you and Kazuya just grew, along with your workload. You couldn't rest and every time you talked to Kazuya, you avoided eye contact to remind the difference between you and him.

«This is how it has to go...no closeness to him, or I'll end up hurting myself again.»

Of course, your attitude didn't go unnoticed in front of the man, who watched you carefully every chance he got, yet never told you anything that would soften the mood.

Until he noticed something.

«You better take a break.» He said casually during your meeting, after seeing that you looked tired and bitter.

«I'm fine sir.» You weren't, but you couldn't let little sleep and stress ruin everything you were sacrificing for. You would have continued like this, on your way, if the heel hadn't taken a bad turn.

«Ugh!»

You were on the verge of touching the floor, until an arm reached out to stop you.

«As always, you never listen to me.» Kazuya said lowering his eyes to yours, caught off guard, having him so close to you made your chest flutter nervously «You would have gotten hurt if I hadn't caught you...you are careless, Y/n.»

You wanted to push yourself away from him, but your hands didn't listen to you, as they rested on his half-open shirt and your eyes were locked on his bi-colored ones, as if depended on them.

It was his fault you had tripped.

«...better I go then. Thank you Mr. Mishima.» Kazuya did as you asked, without looking at him anymore. Moreover, he noticed you didn't call him by his first name anymore and even though it was in a professional manner, it bored him a lot.

The price to pay for protecting you under his evil wings.

You left the Millenium Tower earlier than usual and not knowing where to go, you thought about going home to rest.

«Maybe sleep will reconcile my thoughts as well...» You had some doubts though, especially after the latest events.

But then your phone rang. You thought it was Kazuya who had changed his mind, instead you were shocked to see it was your friend.

«Ling?» You replied after a long time, hearing her voice was almost a relief for you.

«Y/n? Aah finally, we absolutely need to meet! Can you come to this address?» After that, the chinese girl shared the location, not very far from where you were.

«Please come as soon as possible.»

You thought it was an emergency, or that she was in trouble...but when you saw her in the distance, you also recognized the figure who was near her.

«Nice to see you here, guys.»

Ling ran to hug you tightly, as Hwoarang stood watching you intently. So much had happened in between that now you were really happy to be able to talk to them.

«Same for us, Y/n.» She answered regaining some distance, not the usual way Ling Xiaoyu would do though «But there's a reason why we wanted to see you. After what Jin told us, we wanted confirmation from you...were you Reira Lilai?»

That surprised you, honestly this wasn't what you wanted to talk about but you had to comply with her request, so as not to lose their trust.

«Yes, I did it because I believed Kazuya was responsible for my parents' death...but it was a trap designed by Nina Williams, pushing me to become something I'm not.»
