Broken Rib- Alessia Russo

"You ready Smithy?" Beth asked as I put my goalie gloves on

We are playing Chelsea today, the game that basically decides who wins the league this season, we have no choice but win today and we are all ready

I walked over to Alessia while she slide her top on

"Looking good russo" I teased tapping her arsenal badge

"Your loving me playing for your childhood club to much" Alessia rolled her eyes laughing

"Proud to be a gooner" I said passionately

"Expect a clean sheet today ellie" Alessia said to me, lifting my goalie gloves up and looking at the initials stitched into my gloves

"You'll have to get AS soon on your boots" I teased

"Never! your taking my surname!" Alessia protested

"Am I now?" I teased

"Well not until you put a ring on my finger" she teased lifting her hand up

"Soon" I smiled softly, kissing her before walking over to Katie

"Expecting a yellow card today McCard" I laughed as I walked over

"Against that scum, you'll be lucky if I don't get a red card" Katie teased

We were 3-0 up in the 68th minute

I caught the ball from a corner and launched the ball up long where Alessia was making a run

She caught the ball perfectly and carried on her run, making no mistake and slotting it into the back of the net

An assist on derby day? Not too bad

Lotte ran over to me and jumped on me

"What an assist" she shouted

Eventually the girls came running back to our half

Alessia giving me a thumbs up in appreciation for the assist

"Ooo fucking hell, Katie will be lucky to get away with that tackle" I said to myself after watching Katie snap Charles

And got away she did... not even a yellow card

She looked over at me and smirked making me laugh... she knew she was lucky that she didn't receive a card.

Chelsea had played it out of the box area and were slowly making there way up the pitch

Jessie Fleming skipped past our whole midfield and laid it off for sam Kerr, who was at least 20 yards away from the box

I wasn't expecting her to shot... and that's what took me by surprise

Once I saw her leg swing up in the motion of a shot I set myself and waited for her to strike the ball

I'd never seen someone strike the ball so hard and with so much aim

I launched myself at it as it made its way to the top left corner

Just getting fingertips on it and tipping it over to bar... what a feeling, or so I thought

I crashed down onto the floor and heard a crack, immediately feeling a huge amount of pain

I laid on the floor and tried to catch my breath, while moving my hand to rest on my rib

The girls saw me not make any movement to get up and that set alarm bells off for them

Lotte was first over and then shorty followed by Alessia

"Ahh shit" I winced closing my eyes and pushing my head further into the ground

"Ellie" Alessia panicked

"My rib" I said in pain

"It's gonna be okay" Lotte tried to reassure me

Alessia took my hand away from my rib, took off my glove and held my hand

Finally the medics ran over and assessed me

"We think it's a broken rib, we are gonna need to take you to hospital" he said

"Let's get you off the pitch" the other physio said

I slowly sat up, wincing in pain and made my way to my feet

We walked off the pitch, manu being subbed on for me

I gave her a reassuring nod before bringing my attention back to the physios

"The ambulance will take you straight away"

"Can't we wait, only 5 minutes left and I know Alessia will want to come with me" I asked

They nodded hesitantly as we made our way into the tunnel, i clapped the fans as we walked past them

Alessia came steaming in after the full time whistle and immediately made her way over to me

"We need to go to hospital" i mumbled

"You waited for me?" Alessia asked

I nodded before standing up slowly

Alessia got the idea, knowing the girls would back out things up for us, we made our way quickly to the ambulance...
