CORDELIA SAT IN the back of the Impala and a sense of familiarity washed over her. She had been riding the past few hunts with Carter, but he had returned home to see his parents for a bit, leaving Cordelia with the boys.

Like it used to be.

Three hours into the drive, she came to the quick conclusion that it was easier to pretend that her feelings didn't exist when Carter was there. She could take a breather if needed. Now, it was back to long car journeys with stolen glances in the rear-view mirror and small, crappy motel beds that had to be shared.

After that last case, Cordelia was positively drained. Her leg had healed, as well as her stab wound, but her back was worse for wear.

From the driver's seat, Dean huffed boredly as he looked at the road ahead. His eyes briefly flickered up to glance at Cordelia in the mirror before they flitted over to his younger brother. Sam laid asleep in the passenger seat, mouth wide open.

Cordelia watched in amusement as Dean shuffled around, as though he was looking for something before he grabbed a plastic spoon and gently placed it in his brother's mouth.

With a grin pulling at his lips, he flipped open his phone and took a picture of his younger brother. He held his phone up, the device facing Cordelia so that she could get a good look at it.

She huffed in amusement and leant forward. "You're a child," she whispered over to him, lips pulling into a smile. "But send me that."

He laughed lowly with a nod and placed his phone down before reaching for the volume dial, twisting it, he turned the speaker up loudly, music blaring through the small space of the Impala.

It wasn't the music that woke Sam, it was Dean's loud, out-of-tune singing that jerked Sam awake. The brunet's arms wailed about and he spluttered as he noticed the spoon ⸻ soon spitting the plastic out, much to Dean's dismay.
