The banging and screeching continued, Modus and Barlon were frozen and silent in fear.
“What the hell do we do!?” Barlon exclaimed.
“How the hell would I know!? Lets just go out from the back door!” Modus replied, Barlon nodded.
“Good idea.” Barlon said.
They ran over to the back door and quickly opened and left from the house. They made sure that before the horde could follow them they got far enough away.
“You think we’re good now?” Barlon asked.
“Probably. At least for no-” Modus replied, as right at that moment a massive explosion went off in the distance. The horde made its way into the house.
“AH SHIT!” Barlon yelled. “THEY GOT BURSTERS!”
Barlon sprinted away, Modus shouted and ran after him.
“BARLON! BARLON!” Modus shouted at Barlon. “WE DON”T KNOW HOW MANY THERE REALLY WERE! IT COULD’VE BEEN THAT ONE!”
“FUCK THAT MAN! I AIN’T GOING BACK THERE!” Barlon shouted back, sprinting as fast as he possibly can, Modus following.
After a while they had managed to get pretty far. Barlon stops to catch his breath, leaning over. Modus catches up to him and does the same.
“Barlon…” Modus pants. “What…the hell…is wrong with you?”
“What do you mean…whats wrong with me?” Barlon asks back.
“You just…sprinted away without warning!” Modus notes.
“Our house was just destroyed by a huge horde! A horde that let me remind you, had at lears multiple bursters!” Barlon replies.
“I get that but…you could’ve at least warned me. Jeez.” Modus says before standing back up, walking forward and looking out. They seem to now be standing in the middle of nowhere.
“Jesus, Barlon…” Modus says. “Where the hell are we?”
Barlon walks over next to him and looks out to the distance, its all just empty field.
“How would I know? I’ve never left the city.” Barlon replies.
They look out, its just grass for seemingly miles.
“Well…” Modus starts. “I guess its better than the city, doesn’t seem to be any infected here, might as well just keep moving until we find something.”
“Yea…” Barlon replies. “Your right, and we should probably start soon, they could have tracked us.”
They stand there for a little while longer, then start moving.
