“IT FAILED! SHE FAILED EVERYTHING FAILED!!” The man shouted, running through halls as sirens blare and people scream and shout.
Modus looks at the screen, scared for what might happen next, Barlon’s head shoots up in surprise at the sudden noise.
“I THOUGHT I COULD SPEED IT UP BUT IT FAILED!” The man shouts. “I RUINED EVERYTHING!”
The footage goes back to him running and then shuts off, Modus looks at the blank screen for a little longer, than back at Barlon.
“What the hell was that?” Barlon asks him.
“You think I know?” Modus replies. “I’m still shook up from the first one!”
“First one?” Barlon asks.
“Oh, yea…” Modus replies. “There were more before you woke up.”
“More…?” Barlon asks. “Like…more of those tapes….?”
“Yea.” Modus replies. “No idea what they mean but they seem extremely important, don’t how how but…I just have that feeling.”
“They can't really important…they just seem like some random government thing that the public was kept in the dark from” Barlon notes.
“Well…we haven't been released yet. Maybe there's more? Or…maybe we're just being kept here for good…” Modus notes.
“I'm going back to sleep.” Barlon says. “Do what you want, I'd rather dream.”
“Yea…sure, you do that…” Modus replies, looking back at the screen, waiting for something to happen, anything.
Modus stare for what feels like hours, Barlon is out cold and Modus doesn't want to wake him up, so he just sits there, silently, waiting to either watch more or be released. But nothing happens. The screen is pitch black, nothing plays, nothing comes on, nothing happens, nothing at all. Modus feels as if he's being tortured, he can't force himself to sleep as he feels he'll possibly miss something, but still. Nothing happens.
The screen stays off, only an occasional static noise comes from it, but nothing else. Modus feels his eyes straining as the pure feeling that something will happen makes his eyes refuse to close. He hates this, he despises whoever is doing this to him.
The screen turns back on, Modus stares at it in shock and slight relief, he doesn't have to go through this anymore. But it doesn't feel complete. The screen is obviously on, there something playing, but it's black, and the only sound is struggled breathing.
“It's over…” A soft, strained voice says from the screen. “I've ended the world…”
Modus looks at the screen, waiting and fearing for what could happen next.
“The world's over and its my fault…I've killed everyone…” The voice continues. “I was so ignorant and oblivious…I should've stopped…I should've listened when I was told…”
The screen then shakes, then pans up to a pale looking man, looking worn out and terrified.
“I am Troden Remio…it has been three days since the explosion…three days since Reagan slaughtered my entire team…I have no idea where she is…” The man takes a bite out of a bar. “I have sent Modus and the only other surviving subject away…I have erased there memories…they will only remember their names. I will use the last bit of film on this thing to apologize.”
The man picks up the camera, setting it on some sort of stand.
“I apologize to my entire team…for letting my ignorance lead to all their deaths. I apologize to Amber, for barely ever taking her word for anything…I have treated her like a servant…a maid that does what I say no matter what. I apologize to Reagan, for letting my cruel ways and tests lead to her…horrible fate. I apologize to Modus and the other…for having send you out alone…having no knowledge of anything…or how to even survive. And lastly…I apologize to the world, and every human being. I should've never kept you all in the dark. My secretive life style and refusal to share anything has lead to humanities end.”
The man stand there, silently.
“End tape.”
