Chapter 3: Sacrifices (Hospital Visit)

Once she heard her boyfriend's name and the room he was in, she got up from her seat and immediately ran to him. Although she had been tired from work, the fear of not knowing how he was far outweighed the fact that her body lacked energy.

She climbed the stairs with quick steps, trying not to bump into the doctors and patients there. It had been two days where the blonde had been in a coma and he had only just woken up a few minutes ago. She knew he was an idiot, but what he had done had no name. All those days she couldn't sleep and wasn't focused on her work because her priority was him.

She managed to locate the door after climbing four floors. She entered the room in an instant. The first thing she noticed was her boyfriend in a hospital bed, with bandages on his body and connected to a heart monitor from his arm.

"Kaminari!"

The boy was talking to a doctor who had been treating him during those days. Once he heard his girlfriend's voice, he turned his face slightly and started talking with a normal smile.

"Hey Jirou."

She instantly moved towards him, not giving him a chance to say another word. She covered his body with her arms, knowing that he was alive and recovering. Kaminari's movements were still slow, but he was able to respond to his girlfriend's embrace with his intact arm.

The doctor let the two of them have a moment alone. He opened the door and once he got out of the room, Jirou began to speak.

"What the hell did you do? Why didn't you listen to me?" Jirou started to ask.

"What I'm supposed to do, Jirou; be the hero." He smiled weakly.

It was a nomu created by Dr Garaki's experiments, one of the last traces of AFO in Japan. The mission was simply to defeat and arrest it, but it didn't turn out as easy as they thought. The creature managed to put up a strong fight against Jirou's team due to the accumulation of quirks it had over time, defeating most of the heroes almost instantly.

Momo was covered in rubble and scratches; Kaminari was incapacitated on the ground and Todoroki was unconscious. Only Jirou had been left standing.

"You knew I was going to be fine. You knew you didn't need to save me."

"And let you die? No way."

Jirou knew she could use the long hallway they were in to cause a direct attack that would incapacitate the nomu, but she needed some time to position herself so the attack wouldn't be directed at one of her team members. She began to move around the building, dodging the attacks of the nomu who had an immense bloodlust. It sought to kill the girl and tear her body apart without mercy.

Kaminari had figured out what she was planning with her movements, but he knew her energies would not last if she kept dodging the nomu's attacks without taking a small break. He decided to do something to help her. He drew the nomu's attention with an electric bolt to its back, causing the nomu to turn and charge at him. It began to attack him relentlessly. Its claws penetrated the light armor it had, and although the shocks of its quirk slowed the power of its attacks, the nomu unleashed inhuman strength.

But the monster had become a sitting duck. Just as Jirou wanted. She quickly aimed her attack at the nomu, connecting her jack to her costume and unleashing her final blow.

"Heartbeat Surround!"

The charge of sound amplified by her costume went straight at the nomu, causing the force of the attack to push it away from the boy and stun its brain almost instantly. The sound was so powerful that it even destroyed their inner ears, making the nomu unable to detect preys with the sound of footsteps. The nomu went through multiple walls, until it was finally covered in debris and dust. Jirou stopped her attack after a few seconds, and once she did, she observed the creature on the ground, incapacitated and without any movement.
