Dimitri needed to regroup. He wanted to please his father but he now realized he could never hurt Cindie. How could he do both?
He tried to think of something but he couldn't. All his plans he racked his brain of always ended up in killing Cindie or joining her, and he couldn't do either.
He couldn't plead his case to his father because he would never accept that Dimitri couldn't do his job. It would be a reason to punish Dimitri, which the Duke so desperately wanted to do.
Or... another idea was coming to mind.
There could be another way... One without hurting Cindie, but one that completed his duties. A murder... but maybe not of Cindie.
A smug grin started to spread across Dimitri's once worried face.
