Endymion's POV
Selene became even more clingy now that she is transformed. She has questions for everything and a disturbing lack of discretion. Even though I constantly tell her that she does not need my protection anymore, she keeps following me everywhere. I do not know what came over me and took her with me in the first place. Maybe it was loneliness...
She suffocates me. I have to get away from her but, sensing my reluctance, she clings even closer to me.
"Why don't you want to enjoy your independence?" I asked her exasperated. "I like being with you. Don't you?" She replied with a nonchalantness that annoyed me. "I am not used to have someone around me all the time. It is bothersome and tiring." "Maybe you haven't had the right company. You have been alone for too long. Now..." "Maybe I like being alone." I cut her off harshly. She looked at me with the same indifference. "You'll get used to it, you'll see."

I managed to escape her at last! I cannot believe I had to flee like a thief in the night, to escape her grip. But it cost me dearly. I am disgusted at myself for letting her touch me, for bedding her. Gods! I am no angel -I scoff internally- but, this was torture for me. She on the other hand was all too happy, finally getting yet another thing she wanted from me. She was so self absorbed, she did not question me leaving, too confident that I will be coming back for more.
Not happening!
I traveled for a couple of days without stopping, putting as much distance between us as I could. Finally, I reached a big city.
I can breathe freely again. I can get lost among the crowds. I can indulge in anykind of pleasure after a long time.
I was quick to find my way into the circles of the noble society. Sophisticated men and elegant women were more my kind of people these days. Marchella and her spouse had a big impact on me. I always remember them fondly. I enjoy the attention I get from all the women and some young men, buzzing happily around me, without further attachments. Maybe I am spoiled but, I have been alive for too long to have others dictate my every move and try to limit me.
Alas, my carefreeness did not last. She found me.
"Why did you not come back? I was waiting for you." She appeared before me suddenly. "I never said I would come back." I try to be as blunt as possible so as not to leave room for misunderstandings between us. "You will leave me?" "We were never together Selene! Besides, I told you over and over again, I do not like attachments." "Don't I have a say in this?" She asks in utter disbelief. "No. I am sorry. I never made you any promises. You got what you wanted from me, now it is time to go your own way."

But hell hath no fury like a young girl's ego.
I woke up feeling a presence in the room. I see Selene sitting on the edge of the bed, looking at me. "What are you doing here?" I whisper confused, still sleepy. "There is no need to whisper." Her voice is impassive. An unsettling feeling washes over me. I look beside me. The woman I was with lies in a pool of her own blood. "Do not worry. She did not feel a thing." "What did you do Selene?" I ask getting angrier by the minute. "I had to have your attention somehow. I do not like being ignored." "Are you mad? Why did you have to kill her?" "You shared your bed with her." "So what?"
She blinked several times, her face cold and expressionless. She was clearly out of her mind. I knew the Transformed often went mad but I did not think it would happen to her so quickly.
I may have to kill her. The thought makes me nauseous.
