I shot up straight in bed, my breathing sallow and sweat dripping down my face. Another nightmare, just like every night. My heart beat slowly decreased. Tonight wasn't as bad as the night before and lucky for me the dream faded away. I grabbed my phone, which was on my nightstand, and checked the time. The screen lit up and the numbers popped onto the screen. 5:26. Hmmm... this must be a new record. The only other time I slept in later then 5 was when my parents gave me sleeping pills. Never again. It was like I was stuck in the nightmare and couldn't wake up. A shiver shot up my spine at the thought. Sighing, I stood up and got what I needed for a shower. I turned on some music and stripped, refusing to look at myself in the mirror.

After doing the usual routine, I got out and dried off. Once I was dry, I started my search for an outfit. What to wear, what to wear? It needed to be long sleeved to cover the cuts and a pair of jeans to cover the scars. I searched through my suitcase, god, I need to unpack. Oh, who cares. I'll do it tonight. Finally, I found something. I got dressed and put on some makeup to cover the scars on my face. I looked myself up and down in the mirror. I had a grey Ed Sheeran hoodie on, a pair of light blue ripped jeans, some grey Converse and a guitar pick necklace.

I headed down stairs in the direction of where I thought the kitchen would be. After three wrong turns and a dead end, I found the kitchen. The kitchen was just as beautiful as the rest of the house. New appliances and granite counter tops. I jogged over to the fridge and grabbed a water. My stomach yelled, hunger digging at my sides. I closed my eyes and willed the feeling to go away. I chugged my water and did my best to ignore the urge.

I walked around the kitchen, just taking everything in. A flash of pink caught my attention. On the counter there was a bright pink piece of paper. Reaching out I grabbed the neon colored piece of paper. It was a note from my parents. A groan came from my mouth as I read.

        'Dear Avery,

We are so sorry we won't be able to be there on your first day at a new school. Your car came last night, the key are on the counter. Make sure to eat before you go. Your father and I got a call last night saying to come into work right away. Of course, work is work, we had to oblige. We were going to tell you last night but we didn't want to disturb you. There's a backpack and supplies on the table. Have a great day and make a bunch of friends. Be good. :)

                                                                        Love Mom and Dad'

Sighing, I headed over to the table on the other side of the room. Why didn't they put the stuff next to the note? I wondered. Oh well. I grabbed the black Jansport backpack and keys from the counter. Checking the time I realized I still had 45 minutes till school started at 7:50.

Hunger ripped through my body. "Ow..." I hissed, holding my stomach. Three days, it's been three days since I last ate. I knew it was bad, not eating. But I didn't need to eat, I was so fat. I shook my head and tore the thoughts away. I did not want to pass out on the first day at a new school. Looking around, an apple caught my eye. I ate it, enjoying the crisp taste. When the apple was gone I was still hungry but I knew my stomach couldn't hold much more.

I walked out of the house and into the garage. Five cars were parked in there but one grabbed my attention. I clicked a button on the keys seeing the lights flash. I loved my car. It was black and sleek, like something able to go very fast. Honestly, it was pretty bad ass.
