TILL I CAN'T

I went back to the assembly grounds to be with Caleb. I could feel his lips still lingering. I know I like Delvis but how was I supposed to tell Caleb we should break up when we only started a week ago?

I got to Caleb and he smiled at me and held my hands squeezing it lightly. I looked up at him. Back then, I would have told him that we should break up right now but he's shown me too much love. I remembered how our first date was, in a church, crying on his shoulders. I guess that's my problem, I easily fall for the smallest efforts.

I played and fooled around with Caleb for a while before I went out to look for Devi. Delvis did say he broke up with her. I already feel guilty for kissing Delvis. I walked faster along the hallway of the school. Everyone was busy watching another act. I looked around for my best friend just then, I heard a scream. It came from outside, so I did what came to mind first, I rushed out.

I went further into the compound, "Is anyone here?" I panted. I looked around for a little while before sighing and heading back to the door. I was almost there when something fell with a thud behind me. I turned to see a body. " My God!" I gasped. I rushed to the body to turn her around, it was Raquel "Raquel? Raquel!" I called shaking her for a reaction. I checked her pulse panting loudly out of fear and frustration. "She's dead" I whispered. God, I have to go, I can't let them see me with this. What if they blame me? No, no, I have to go." I turned to watch around to check if anyone saw me. I then bolted to my car. 'This is wrong!, this is wrong' I kept chanting to myself. My car was almost out when I saw people coming out and their reactions. I watched from my rear mirror to see people watching the body with shock. God why me?..
This was my third day of going to school and laying low. Caleb was a little distant on the first day he saw my car leave because he had come earlier looking for me. He asked if I was involved and I lashed out and told him everything that happened that night except The Kiss. He believed me and helped me stay low. Devi was nowhere to be found and Delvis kept texting to beg. Claire and our lawyers were trying their best to make the matter die down. Wendy died on the spot and it was discovered that she was pushed from the top. My mind was filled with guilt for not getting people to come or giving a little of all the first aid classes I went to. I just stayed put as my phone kept buzzing with notifications. Stella was facing the same issue. People kept calling to ask what was wrong because the news was trending more than it was supposed to. The HRs were threatening to close the school and investors were withdrawing as Wendy's parents made a fuss. I say it that way because the woman always advertised her product at the end of each interview on her own daughter's death. A whole lot for a sixteen.

Today, I had a study date with Caleb. I was always excited about our study dates because...He held me closer deepening the kiss. I moaned into the kiss. He squeezed my waist making me smile because I remembered how Delvis touched me. I went closer to Caleb as he pulled me. " Gosh, Mara!" He panted into the kiss. " Yeah, baby?" I asked. " I think I love you. Yeah, I know it's early for this but you got me hooked babe" Caleb said with me looking at him dumbfounded. Not you too...

He smiled and kissed me again. With my eyes opened I kissed him back.

Now it's surely going to be hard to break up with Caleb. Now that he was gone. I wrote my last assignments and got ready for bed. I came out of the bathhouse in my pj cleaning my hair. " You look beautiful like this. I wonder how your body would be." I was startled as I heard the voice. " Delvis, you've got to stop that!" I warned. He chuckled and watched closely. " What do you want?" I asked. " I want you" he replied. I sighed and went to my bed to sit but before I heard the sound of sirens coming our way. I rushed to the window to check. Who were the police after in our neighbourhood? I watched closely as they turned to our gates to be opened. " What the...?" I asked. I rushed down the stairs." Claire!, Claire, did you do something wrong? I knew you could go to jail but I didn't know this soon. What did you do?" I asked frantically. " firstly, I didn't do anything and secondly?" Claire responded shaking her head. They knocked on the door and they entered.

" We are here to arrest Miss Mara Cann for the discharge of murder of the late Miss Raquel Ofori. You have a cause to remain silent or anything you say will used against you before a court of law" The policeman stated. " What the heck? I didn't do anything! Claire! Call my lawyers! My God!" I shouted as they dragged me out. How could this even happen? I'm just sixteen! I heard Claire shouting and barking orders to our workers. I was handcuffed already and Delvis was nowhere to be found. A tear slipped from my eyes and the police car went away as my house disappeared from my view. What's going on??

" It has come to our notice that Mara Cann murdered Raquel Ofori in cold blood!" The newscaster said. " You're right Mary. These rich kids need lessons to be taught to prevent these things. Anyway, Mara Cann has been arrested now and is being sent. Rest in peace, Raquel...
