Chapter 6. Fleeing Inferno

The punk hound quickly picks up the phone to answer.

Loona: Blitz where the fuck are you guys?

Blitz: Hey Loonie uuuhhh, small detail that wasn't in the plans. The bitch ass we were tasked with killing... was part of a gang. We are currently ass blasted from all sides!

As the imp then just puts the phone on loud speaker and sure enough, both Loona and Vergil could pretty much hear the gunfire happening around the team. Of course there also appears to be sounds of a sniper rifle going off near the phone location. A high pitched male voice then starts talking to Blitz.

???: Sir, there are too many of these hoodlums. I am unsure on whether the ammo we brought will be sufficient

Blitz: Moxxie, I don't pay you to think, I pay you to shoot, so keep shooting!

There are gunfire sounds coming from near the receiver, following by a loud thunk on of a corpse near the team's cover. This is followed by a second, more light thunk and judging by the sound, it might've been a duffle bag. These two thunks are also accompanied by a female voice with what sounded like a deep texan accent.

???: Here, I managed to scavenge some 'munitions. How's the escape route lookin'?

Blitz: Nearly finished, hang tight!

This is then accompanied by more return gunfire at the incoming opposition.

Blitz: So yeah, in short... OPEN A DAMN PORTAL!

Loona: No need to shout dumbass, I'm on it!!

As the two on the phone were bickering, with the imp on the receiver fending off the enemies, Loona was quickly listing through the book's pages to get to the spell that opens a portal. After about a few more seconds, the portal was finally open on the wall of the imp offices, facing the windows. Of course from the other end, the two hounds were met with a barrage of bullets that pretty much turned the background windows into salt. That salt would've been them had they not gotten out of the way.

Loona quickly picks up the phone once again as she forgot to hang up previously

Loona: Hey, shitheads, portal's open! Look behind ya!!

That grabs the attention of the imp team as all three look behind themselves. As they slowly begin shuffling back to the portal, the hooligans catch on and in an attempt to pin them down, wait for a bit to make the imps think they're in the clear. Eventually the imps get to a car that appears a bit more out in the open at which point the gangsters just concentrate fire on that one car, making pretty much any attempt to get out of cover futile.

Of course that has Loona a little concerned, because she shares with Vergil that the portal spell has a short time limit before disappearing. Vergil nods and then notices something, the enemies appear to be moving around the cars in order to get closer to the imps so that they could kill them. Suddenly, as if out of nowhere, massive arrows made out of fire appear to be flying towards the gangsters' direction. This made the hooligans dive out of the way so as to not get shot themselves, though that didn't help much, seeing as the flame arrows were flying towards the cars' engine and fuel compartments which meant...

BOOOOOOOOOM

BOOOOOOOOOM

BOOOOOOOOOM

Massive explosions going off, which gave the imp trio the much needed chance of escape. The first to start running to the portal is an imp with white hair, a black tux and a bowtie that was carrying a sniper. He was closely followed by a farm girl-looking imp with black hair, a tank top and ripped jeans that was holding an enormous and heavy-looking axe.

The final one to go is an imp with big horns, a large black coat and metal-looking gauntlets, dual wielding pistols. As said imp was getting ever so close to the portal,a bunch of stray shots fly through the air, whizzing by the imp, all but two, which hit him in the back of the leg and also the torso. That makes the imp in a trench coat trip and fall on his ass, unable to get up.

Both: BLITZ!!!

As they see him unable to get up and also noticing the portal is about to close. It also didn't help that both Loona and Vergil were hearing footsteps quickly closing in on Blitz's current position

Loona: Blitz! Come on, get up already, stop playing!!!

Blitz: Grrr...Loo...nie...if I don't...make it...Take...care...

Loona: Blitz!!!

Not wanting to see this sad state of affairs unfold any further, Vergil just pushes past the hound and two assassins and just leaps out of the portal, rapidly appearing and vanishing in different locations so that he won't get shot. The white wolf quickly gets to Blitz and carries him in his arms as if the trenchcoat-wearing imp is a bride on a wedding day. Vergil quickly once again starts rushing back to the portal, rapidly appearing and disappearing so as to not get hit by any gunfire.

The two finally pass through the portal, just as it closes, with blitz laying down, bleeding all over the floor. Vergil, of course, wanting to help, is about to bite into his hand, however the dragon consciousness stops him.

Dragon: STOOOOOOOP!

Vergil: What is it!! He's about to die!!

Dragon: You are a newly formed demon! With angelic powers! Are you not connecting the dots?!

Vergil of course realizes that due to how suddenly he appeared in hell, there might be a chance in his desire to help, Vergil might kill Blitz. However before the wolf could respond, he's smacked away by the farm girl imp who was rushing in with the medkit, which sends him crashing into the wall.
