Sora Itsuki's POV
"Are you ready for later?" Kane asks and I nearly sigh.
Today is match day and everyone I know has been asking me the same question.
It's my first time fighting in a while, but I'm not made of glass!
I'm a fighter who's been doing this for over 10 years and some change.
I've got this.
And the only person who seems to understand this, is my girlfriend, Nova.
My girlfriend...
Finally!
Shit, after chasing her for 4 months, she's finally letting me be her man.
My woman.
My beautiful woman.
I snap out of my whimsical daydream to focus on my instructor.
"We're all super proud of you kid. You know that?" He asks, placing a gentle hand on my shoulder.
I feel my eyes start to tear up.
Kane is by no means at all an affectionate man.
Not unless it's with his family or with Lux.
But the warmth in his tone is moving.
He really does care.
"Thank you sir" I say.
He nods and let's go, turning away.
"Make sure you stretch and eat. Don't spar at all today. Just focus on the match." He advises while walking off.
I nod like he can see me and immediately leave the gym.
I've learned my lesson about trying to spar when I've been told not to.
I tried it as a teenager and the second Kane found out, he snatched me out of the match and put someone else in.
And what's worse, I had to watch that person lose the match we'd all been watching and waiting for after so much hard work!
Kane was nonchalant about this and told me that he'd rather lose than have me potentially die in the ring from passing out from fatigue.
I leave the gym and I walk to my car, checking my phone to see if my girlfriend has messaged me.
She has and she tells me to be at hers in 10 minutes.
I shoot off a text in response and get in my car.
I drive to hers, a lot on my mind.
Someone is coming out of the building as I go in, so I decide not to ring her bell to go inside.
Instead, I let myself in, taking the elevator to her apartment.
I knock on her door, waiting and a couple of minutes later, she opens it with a big smile.
"Good afternoon baby" she greets, letting me in.
I close the door behind me, grabbing her into a hug.
