Nova Lux's POV.
"You ready?" I ask my boyfriend softly.
"Born ready" he responds, almost making me giggle and I glare at him.
He faces his front, but I see a small smile tugging at his lips.
I'll punish him later.
It is the final curtain call for the recital we have been practicing for since he got done with his fight.
As promised, he is part of the performance for the 'Swan Lake' ensemble that my studio does for Christmas every year.
All the kids I work with get to take a break and watch a ballet performance with their parents and others in the community who are interested but can't really afford something as grand as a Royal Shakespeare Academy performance.
I called in some of my old colleagues from the dance academy I grew up learning in.
Some of them I even danced alongside in college and they have gone on to be word famous.
Kane, my step father is here, to watch me and he has his camera as always, as if I'm a little girl.
I suspect that this time though, it's mostly to embarrass his students in his tights and glitter.
My mother used to also attend sometimes when I was a kid, but stopped after she and my dad divorced.
It reminded her too much I guess of my dad, I guess.
When she and Kane started dating, he stepped in and would watch my performances instead.
I'm grateful.
Sora's parents are also here to support him.
They didn't want to watch his fight, because his father was scared that his mother may get lightheaded and faint.
Real.
The curtains part and the music starts to play, making us spring into action.
It's the final scene.
In the original story, the prince, played by Sora, dies and princess Odette, played by me, remains a swan forever.
But there are small children here and families that just want to have a good time, so we have changed it a little.
The prince is on a mission to find his princess Odette, after being falsely accused of infidelity.
The evil sorcerer meets him right near the lake and tells the prince he can only get to Odette if he can pick her out of a slew of other almost identical swans.
The prince struggles and struggles, but he finally manages to find her after performing their favourite dance, which she responds to by gracefully mirroring his moves.
Now it's time for the big lift.
Me and Sora have practiced this for weeks.
