1 And A Half Years Later...
Sora Itsuki's POV

"Alright we're done for the day! Everyone, pack up!" My trainer, Kane Martin calls.
"Itsuki you stay behind!" He says.
Dripping with sweat and sticky with sand, the group disperses and I approach my trainer.
"Yes sir?" I ask.
"How's your leg?" He asks softly, as to not get the attention of the other fighters in the gym.
I nod.
"I'm fine. My leg is fine. I'm doing the physiotherapy every day and I'm doing all the things you asked me to do" I respond.
I'm a mixed martial arts fighter.
A year and a half ago, I twisted out the ligament in my knee, almost destroying it.
I was in the hospital for months and I've been in physiotherapy since.
And I can fight now.
I'm back to sparring with everyone in the gym and I'm back to being unbeaten.
But Kane won't let me back into professional fights.
He does not think I am ready and he says I won't be for a while.
He nods.
"Good" he responds.
I feel my shoulders sag.
Is that all?
"When are you going to let me back into the arena?" I ask.
Kane looks me dead in my face.
"After what happened last time? Fuck no" he says.
I sigh and I shake my head.
"That was nearly two years ago! What do I have to do to get back in the arena?" I ask.
He looks at me and puts his jaw in his hand.
"I have an option for you, but you wouldn't last a minute" he says with a small chuckle.
I feel indignation burn in my chest.
"What is it?" I nearly snap.
The last time I snapped at Kane, I was scared that he would take my life!
He made me do simple drills until I thought I would lose my mind.
He looks back at his computer, typing as if he hasn't heard me.
I'm about to speak again, but he holds a hand up.
"You wouldn't last a minute" he says again.
"Kane, could you just say it?!" I ask him.
