Bonnie woke with a gasp.

Her head pounding, the young witch looked franticly around, trying to get her bearings. She was in some kind of room, and when she tried to stand, something kept her hands bound and her body weighed down.

She lay upon some sort of table, in an empty room that possessed a single door. Candles cast tall shadows upon the walls, and there were strange signals that Bonnie didn’t know lining the acid-washed walls.

“Lik'ek'enyi,” Bonnie whispered.

The ties that bound her hand loosened, dropping to the ground. Quickly, Bonnie sat up and rubbed her wrists, her heart pounding in her chest.

‘Where the fuck am I?’ Bonnie thought, slowly lowering herself to the ground. ‘And why was I…’

CCRREEAAKK …

Bonnie whipped around as the door behind her opened. Two women entered, one carrying some sort of lantern. They gasped, their eyes widening as they took in Bonnie, then the ropes, then the table, then Bonnie again.

She didn’t give them time to react. Bonnie thrust out her hands and called out, “Metenyati!”

The Women’s eyes rolled into the backs of their heads, as with a soft whimper they crumbled to the ground. Not wasting a moment, Bonnie leaped over their bodies, running out of the door.

It was a graveyard.

Bonnie’s stomach leaped in her throat at the sight of coffins and tombstones. But she knew that she had to keep a cool head.

‘Easy there BonBon,’ she told herself. ‘You’ve faced hell itself, even went up against the evilest creatures ever created. You can fucking handle some rotting bones.’

“She’s escaped!” Someone suddenly yelled. “Look! Over there!”

A man appeared in the distance, pointing at her.

Bonnie had to go.

Not looking back, Bonnie ran down the cobbled paths, panting as she ran for her life. Behind her, people were shouting, and she heard people whispering spells, but she tried to block it out. In the distance, she could see it, the exit to the graveyard. Her spirits soaring, Bonnie pushed hard, leaping over fallen rocks and branches, her eyes locked onto her end goal.

WAP!

Bonnie let out a squeal as she slammed into an invisible force shield, sending her flying back. Fortunately, the young witch fell into a pile of leaves, but unfortunately, it was right in the center of the witches hunting her.

“Help her up,” a Feminine Voice said. “Careful, don’t hurt her.”

Bonnie kicked and elbowed the hands grasping at her, but there were too many. Before she could even utter a syllable, they bound her wrists with thick ropes, the magic seeped within preventing her from using her abilities.

A woman appeared in front of her, her soft brown eyes both filled with intelligence and sadness at the same time.

“I’m sorry,” the Woman said. “But we can’t have you crushing our brains all at once here.”
