My mind blanked, Xavier and Carmen? Together?

No. There was no way; he had his arm around her waist as he sauntered over to us.

“Hey guys,” Carmen said unusually cheery.

“Um hi.” I said unexpectedly.

Music started to play above our heads. i noticed the song, It was ‘Off To The Races’ By Lana Del Rey. My ears perked, the game was on.

“Well after you ladies.” Kade said giving me a gentle push towards the stairs that lead to the lanes. Xavier doing the same, they walked behind us.

The boys went to go and get their bowling balls while we went a little ways along the building to talk privately,

“Did you know?” Carmen asked suddenly

“Now why would you just assume that I would know?” I whispered defensively.

“Just curious. Considering your all buddy buddy with the alpha.” She smirked.  My eyes wide in disbelief, where had all this confidence come from?

Hearing coughing from behind us we assumed it was Xavier, we spun around, I smelled an unwelcome dog. There were humans all around us, whoever it was wouldn’t dare make a move.

I grabbed a hot pink ball, Carmen grabbed a dark green ball and we walked around the weird group, back to our dates.

“Something’s not right.” I whispered to Carmen

“I know.”

We played two games, the first it was Kade and I against Carmen and Xavier, we won.

The second game was boys against girls; we were in the middle of it in fact. It was my turn; I grabbed my hot pink ball from the gutter dispenser and walked onto the slippery hardwood floor. I took a deep breath in and whipped my arm back and as I let it go I got a vision of terrifying electric blue eyes. Causing me to stumble back and land on my butt. I looked around, to the left of me was that unusual group with a pair of crystal blue eyes staring straight at me, those were the ones I saw!

I looked back at my group who was laughing but Carmen looked concerned…as always. I got up and brushed my butt off.

“Great fall there Barbie.” Xavier gasped out in between chuckles.

I muttered an angry “Humph!” then tried again. My ball came back through the machine and I picked it up again I focused and chucked the ball with enough force to not look conspicuous but still hit a strike. While my plan worked I spun around to look at the shocked faces behind me, I let my hot pink ball go flying down the lane and as I heard the crash of the pins I smiled.

Xavier’s mouth was opened in shock; I sauntered over to my seat.
