She never liked nighttime. The darkness messed with her mind bringing her fears and imaginations close to reality. But this particular night was unusual, she'd woken up to an awful smell. It was so foul it made her nauseous. She looked around the room and found it empty. She quickly reached for her phone and turned on the flashlight.

She noticed the absence of the night creatures,no owl hooting and no cricket chirping. She got up and walked out of the room and into the hallway. Her heartbeat quickened for some reason she felt something was out to get her. Everywhere was quiet , too quiet. She decided to go back to her room when she heard footsteps. Slow and heavy footsteps.
She directed her phone's flashlight to where she heard the sound. There was nothing there. She laughed a little, trying to ease her nerves ,"I've been imagining things".

Then she heard someone laugh with her, the laughter sounding so close. Her heart sank and she hastened her steps towards her room. She stumbled on something and felt a sharp pain. She'd flashed her flashlight on what she'd stumbled on and gave horrified gasp.
She stared at the body at her feet. It was badly mutilated, with bloody marks on the neck.
As she scrambled to her feet, she heard a malicious laugh. The feel of a cool, metal blade rested on her bare shoulders, then someone whispered in her ears,"Why are you in such a hurry, Chi? You're not leaving here alive, I promise you that".
