Let me be your roots, let me
ground you in earth, feed you
in fertile soil. Let me
tether you in storms, cradle you
in my stem, let me see you
grow into branches, thick and strong.
Let me love you when you
bow and creak in the wind, let me
love you when you sprout
your leaves, let me love you when you
lose them. Let me be what keeps you stable,
standing; let me be your roots.
