Katie was still asleep when Wilbur woke up. He looked at her and softly smiled. He loved how peaceful she looked and quietly chuckled when her snout would cutely scrunch up. Joy, Aranea, and Nelly, the three spider babies of Charlotte that stuck around, smiled and gently landed on Wilbur's snout, "She's so nice, Wilbur." Aranea smiled. "Well I think it's a fine idea for Wilbur to be a father. Their babies will be like god brothers and sisters to us." Nelly smiled. Wilbur chuckled, "Now now, girls. We'll just let her enjoy her time on the farm a little while longer before we try mating. She needs to feel safe and welcome here."
Lurvy came with the morning slops for the two pigs. "Here pigs, sooey!" He called as he filled the trough. Kate yawned and woke up as soon as she smelled the slops. "Mmm, a fine smell to wake up to in the morning. Good morning Wilbur. I hope you got enough sleep. Sorry I woke you up last night with my nightmare." Wilbur softly smiled and nuzzled her, "You're fine, Kate. It was upsetting you and you needed comfort. I didn't mind at all. But how are you feeling? Not too tired, are you?" She smiled and licked his cheek, "I feel wonderful, dear. Snuggling with you helped me feel so much better." There it was again, she called him 'dear'. The pig felt a strange happiness he never knew before, but smiled. "I'm glad. You deserve a good home where you can be happy."
"So... after we eat you're going to show me around the farm? The humans just let us wander around?" She asked. "Yup. Just so long as we don't leave the property. There are woods near by and there's wild pigs, wolves, coyotes. Definitely not creatures you wanna mess with." He said. She shuddered fearfully at the mention of those predators, "Yeah, not willing to gamble with my life and be a pork dinner for hungry wolves or coyotes." Wilbur nodded, "Let's fill up our bellies before doing anything." She smiled, "A fine idea." She nuzzled her head under his chin, then went to eat at the trough. Wilbur blushed and thought to himself 'She's so amazing. I'm the luckiest pig in the world. She definitely knows how to get me flustered.' He came over and began to eat with her.
Once again, Wilbur found himself stealing glances at the beautiful pig beside him. Her eyes seemed to shine whenever she smiled or giggled. He loved the way her tail curled up and the way her ears flapped from a gentle breeze. He felt a special kind of feeling with her around. Something he never felt before. He found himself thinking about her all the time. He wondered if she felt the same way for him and wanted to chase this feeling. Kate looked over and giggled when she saw Wilbur had a piece of doughnut stuck to his chin. She gently licked it off his chin, "Sorry. You just had a little something." He blushed and stammered, "O-Oh uhm... thanks. Sorry, can't help but make a pig of myself when I eat." She giggled at his cute, unintended pun. "That's alright. Happens to me all the time, dear."
"U-Uhm, while I've got your attention. I feel like there's something I need to tell you. I-I get this strange but happy feeling when you're near me. I feel myself getting to flustered and find myself thinking about you a lot, I..." He was interrupted when Kate nuzzled him, lovingly. "You don't have to say anymore. I feel the same about you. You make me feel so safe and comfortable. It hasn't even been a full day and I already can't imagine my life without you. It may seem like things are moving fast, but I love you too." Wilbur blushed but smiled and lovingly licked her face. She giggled with a snort. "You're so much better at knowing what to say. I'm glad you're here, love." He smiled. Now it was her turn to blush. She never had a mate and never been called 'love' before. She smiled and nuzzled her snout against his.
Lurvy saw and smiled at their little shows of affection. "Mr. Zuckerman, come over here. It's such an adorable sight." Homer came over and softly smiled, "I knew these two would make a good match. He treats his mate this well, he'll be a loving father to their piglets. Come this week, Kate will be ready to breed. We should get them to the breeding barn in a couple days." Homer gently pet his two prized pigs, "Gonna make beautiful babies, aren't you?" Kate oinked happily in agreement. Wilbur blushed but softly smiled, if she was willing to breed now, he would make it so. He had never mated before but figured his instincts would guide him. Lurvy smiled, "I'll go order some nesting hay for Kate. Gotta make sure she and the piglets will be comfortable when she becomes a mama pig." He patted her belly.
Katie softly smiled, "Well while the humans decide our future, I'd love that tour you promised me, dear." Wilbur smiled, "Of course." He came to the gate of their pen and oinked at Homer. The man chuckled and opened the gate for his pigs, "Go on, then. But remember the rules, Wilbur. No taking her off the farm." Both pigs oinked in acknowledgement and began walking around the farm. "It's lovely here, Wilbur." Kate smiled. He softly smiled, "Well it's definitely better now that you're here." She blushed but smiled, "Are you trying to flirt with me?" "W-Well I..." He stammered. She giggled and licked him, "Well it's cute and definitely working." He chuckled and nuzzled her.
The two chatted away as they explored the farm. They ended up at the mud pit and Katie giggled as she splashed Wilbur with mud. "Oh is that how it's going to be?" He grinned and playfully splashed back. She giggled and they had a mud fight. Neither of them knew a pack of wolves were spying on them from the treeline of the woods. The alpha wolf licked his fangs hungrily. "A nice fat pair of hogs. They'll keep us well fed through a few months. Especially the female." "Alpha, I heard their humans talk of breeding them. Why not let them have babies and wait. That way when their piglets are grown, we'll have even more pork." A scout wolf said. "Hmm... not a bad idea. Very well." The alpha said and they went back to their den in the woods.
Katie and Wilbur had so much fun just playing and splashing in the mud. She heard gunfire in the distance, humans practicing for hunting season. She whimpered and huddled close to Wilbur. "Shh, it's ok. I've got you." He nuzzled her. ,"I won't let anyone hurt you, I promise." She slowly calmed down and nuzzled him, "Thanks darling. I just get scared whenever I hear guns go off. The mean farmer I was owned by would kill us pigs with a big gun. He would take mother's from their babies just for some extra pork on slaughter day. Dispensers are a poor substitute for a mother's care." Wilbur nuzzled her, "Shh. You're here with me now."
She nodded, "And I'm so glad I am." They both heard Homer calling them back with a pail of slops for their afternoon feeding. She smiled, "Race you back!" She took off running. "Hey, no fair! You got a headstart!" He laughed as he chased her. Katie won the race and Wilbur shook his head as he chuckled. The two eagerly trotted over to the trough and began to eat. Katie smiled as the delicious slops dropped into her belly, "Mmm, I could eat these slops all day. They're so good." Wilbur chuckled, "I agree, love. And these slops will also nourish our piglets when they no longer need your milk."
She sighed, "If he has to sell our piglets, I hope he lets us keep at least one. I'll hate to say goodbye to our babies when it's time. It's such a sad thing for mother's to say goodbye to their children." He nuzzled her, "I know, honey. But remember, we can always make more, too. Besides, we'll have happy memories with our piglets that will last forever." He assured. She smiled, "You always now how to make me happy, darling." He licked her cheek, and she licked back.
