BROOKLYN ran outside when she heard shayne's car pull up. she got inside and smiled at shayne.
"hey!" she said. shayne smiled back.
"i like your pajamas." he said. brooklyn laughed.
"shut up." she said. they sat quietly with the low sound of only the radio playing for a few minutes until shayne said something.
"so, uh." he started. "are we gonna talk about our date?" he asked.
"what's there to talk about?" she asked.
"not much, i guess." he said. "just, we kissed goodnight and then the next morning you sent me a stupid reel. the reel was funny, don't get me wrong, but i just want to make sure you had a good time."
brooklyn smiled. "i had an amazing time." she said. "i just feel that a successful relationship begins on a solid friendship, which is something you've mentioned as well." brooklyn explained.
shayne nodded and sighed of relief. brooklyn looked at him concerned. "did you think i didn't have fun?" she asked.
"i thought you had fun but i didn't know how you felt about me." he said, pulling into dairy queen. "a reel of a spinning fish wasn't exactly clear." he laughed.
brooklyn laughed. "what do you mean... that spinning fish was literally me proposing to you." she joked.
"but in all seriousness, i think we have to become friends first. even if that means we're flirty friends who maybe kind of kiss sometimes because i really enjoyed the last one." brooklyn continued, saying the last part quicker.
shayne laughed. "i can do that."
