SHAYNE straightened his collar and adjusted his light sweater vest as brooklyn strolled into their bedroom.

"looking very handsome." she smiled, watching shayne grow a sweet smile on his face as well.

"and you look as gorgeous as always." shayne said. brooklyn blushed, spinning around in her navy blue dress.

"my mom and sister should be here soon." brooklyn told him, leaning on the doorframe. "and holly needs to be woken up from her nap." she smirked, knowing shayne loved this daily task.

"on it." he said, strolling past his wife. he made his way into his daughter's room, knocking even though she was too young to give him the okay to come in. walking in, shayne was hit with the ocean sounds coming from the white noise machine.

not to his surprise, holly was already awake, standing in her crib with a smile. "good nap, holly harper?" he asked, lovingly using his nickname for the girl.

the sixteen month old bounced up and down without lifting her feet. "dada! anksgiving?"

shayne laughed, picking holly up. "yes baby, it's still thanksgiving."

"turkey?" holly said, pressing her head into her father's chest as he carried her out of the nursery.

"mommy made turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, green bean casserole, all kinds of stuff that you're gonna get to eat." shayne said as he walked down the stairs, holly in his arms. he heard the sound of his in-laws shuffling through the door.

"come on in!" brooklyn beamed, grabbing the pie tins from her mother.

"hi baby girl, oh it smells amazing in here!" brooklyn's mom, ellie, said as she walked farther into the house.

"hey mads, happy thanksgiving!" brooklyn said to her sister.

"happy thanksgiving, sis." madeline said. "oh my goodness, the girl I've been waiting to see!" she said, spotting shayne holding her little niece.

"say hi to aunt madeline and grandma." shayne said to holly as she excitedly waved her hands.

"hi!" holly slurred in between excitedly noises and giggles. shayne seamlessly handed holly over to madeline who then began bouncing her around happily.

"it does smell amazing in here, by the way." shayne said. he walked up to brooklyn and the two made their way into the kitchen, one arm resting on her waist as they walked.

"thanks!" brooklyn said sweetly. "but i can't take credit for all the work, you made the cranberry sauce, and the rolls, and the sweet potatoes."

shayne smiled. "yeah but you did everything else." he placed a thankful kiss on the side of her head and walked over to the fridge.

"can't have thanksgiving without the sparkling cider." ellie chuckled as she walked in, holding holly's hand as she walked in next to her.

"a harper household favorite." brooklyn remarked. "and now a harper topp household favorite."

"glad to see the tradition live on." madeline said, taking a seat next to her mother who was doing the same.
