I should have been distraught, disoriented. And I was, but not so much because I was in another realm, taking the spot of another person. Not because I hadn't left this room in nearly three days and had done nothing but fuck the lovely maid until we were so spent, we were unable to move.
Actually, what disoriented me was that—the fact that in this strange place, I more or less openly slept with a serving girl and received no reprimand for it. Granted, the man I was posing as was to be a king, and he had the power to command any woman to his bed. But still, even in Acewood, our king had never acted in such a manner. No one did, bar the ladies of the night who wandered the streets in search of someone innocent enough to pay them for their services. In the castle, though? Such lewdness would be scolded, heavily reprimanded.
I would know, as I'd myself been reprimanded for my unleashed demeanor more than once.
As a sworn knave, I had vows to uphold. Celibacy, honor, duty; those were my words, my creed. But here, in this fish-scented town of Springport...I was free of those vows. Free to eat what I wanted, sleep when I wanted, fuck who I wanted without consequence.
And I took advantage of that latter freedom with absolute pleasure.
After meeting me, the maid hadn't been able to keep her clothes on. When I crept my fingers into her depths and touched her, tickled her, she almost exploded all over me. I couldn't contain myself and lowered my breeches enough to remove my throbbing cock and thrust it into her, making her have to cover her mouth to suppress her screams. The release was...exhilarating. In Acewood, I wasn't allowed to finish inside any maiden I slept with. Here? The women didn't care, or so the maid told me.
I didn't ask any follow-up questions. Perhaps they had their own means to prevent pregnancy, or they'd been deprived of the ability by some kind of magic—
"Fuck," I cursed, as the maid's mouth tightened around my member, taking me in deeper. Two days of fucking and I'd only now realized how willing she was to please me in other ways. So, as I stood there reminiscing over all the fun we'd had, she lathered her tongue over me and sucked me until my legs shook.
Oh, yes, my legs shook.
That was magic, and it was all I needed. The kind of magic I was familiar with back home? Nonexistent in this world. I hadn't asked anyone to be sure, but I knew. I'd enlisted the maid to deliver me all sorts of books and parchments detailing the history of this kingdom, and every bit of knowledge I'd need if I were to choose to stay here. Nothing hinted at magic.
Not that I had much choice, as far as I could tell. Whenever I was alone, I spent countless minutes staring at the mirror, talking to it, demanding that it take me back to Efura. But it didn't budge. It didn't talk back—and it would have, were we in Acewood—didn't open up, didn't show a single sign of being magically inclined and able to transport people between realms.
