Next week came round quicker than Aurora expected.
Sat in her kitchen with Millie and Will in front of her, the trio were gossiping over a glass of wine like old times. With recent events, they hadn't been able to see each other as often as they used to. Will was studying for his finals, Millie was following Charles around like a headless chicken, and Aurora had been at dance practices and a new modelling job she'd been offered.
In all honesty, they all clung to moments like this - moments where they felt like they were 18 again, and planning their 7th night out of the week. Moments filled with laughter and whatever 80's crap Millie had them dancing too. Clinging to each other like their life depended on it.
"I don't wanna grow up." Will groaned as he placed his head on the island, earning a chuckle from Aurora.
Millie sighed through her smile as she placed a hand on his curls, "Me neither, pal. Me neither."
But Will was having none of it as he, once again, groaned and threw his head further into the counter, "No." He raised his eyes ever so slightly so he could look at his two friends, "It's okay for you two. You have futures. I mean - you have two Formula 1 drivers coming to your rescue any minute now. And I have - I just have me."
In attempt to make him feel better, Aurora shrugged, "Max and Carlos are coming?" It wasn't met with much happiness, just an exaggerated sigh as he muttered 'straight men.'
Millie laughed as she placed her head on his shoulder, shaking him slightly, "Don't be like that. You have so much going for you."
"Not Charles Leclerc though." He whined.
Now Aurora joined Millie and placed both hands on the sides of his face, "But you are the only one that is going to have a degree." Millie hummed in agreement as she shook him one more time.
When met with silence, Millie turned to the one thing she could think off. And with a smirk she walked off out the kitchen door, leaving a confused Aurora and a very stressed Will. Aurora found herself staring at the door for a little over 10 seconds with her mouth agape, how could she leave her with him? before she turned her head to Will, who was now looking at her through his eyelashes.
All she could do was smile at him and shrug her shoulders.
By the time Millie came back, Aurora had joined Will in his position - with her head also placed against the cold counter. Millie silently giggled as she placed the speaker on the side as quietly as she could, ensuring not to give her entrance away. She turned around to face her friends as her finger hovered the play button.
A smirk.
Volume up all the way.
Another smirk.
Girls just wanna have fun.
Both Aurora and Will's head both shot up, each looking frantically around as there hearts pounded against their chest at the new booming sound around them. It was Aurora to laugh first as her eyes landed on Millie's dancing as she swooped across the floor to collect her wine glass. Will finally did catch on to the attempt his friends were trying to make when Aurora picked her glass up and joined Millie in what could only be described as a shimmy, but kept himself as serious as he could.
"Come on, Willy." Millie laughed whilst she grabbed at his hand to pull him up, "Dance with your girlfriends."
Will scoffed despite letting his friends raise him to his feet, "Girlfriends?"
Now Aurora came to his side, swooping beneath his arm and clinging to his waist, "Oh, my baby Will. We'll always be your girlfriends." She said as she handed him his drink with a cheesy smile.
This broke Wills attempted stance as he wrapped his arm around Aurora in return and smiled before placing a kiss on her head. They all giggled between themselves as they danced together to anything from 'Nicki Minaj' to 'Whitney Houston'. The trio were so into their dancing, that they failed to notice the new group that had entered the apartment - suitcases pulling behind them.
Lando found himself staring with a soft smile on his face as he watched from the hallway. In his eyes, Aurora was the most beautiful thing in the entire world - she could be doing anything and all he saw was her smile and her dimples. Beside him Charles brought himself to a halt as he watched on with a grin also - they had truly managed to find their people.
As the four watched on at the group of friends waltzing each other around, all parts couldn't help but feel deja vu from the first time they met. Lando couldn't help but feel the same pull and excitement that he'd felt on that first night. But this time it was simply more exaggerated.
Charles nudged Lando bringing his attention away to his side, and he simply shook his head in amusement before walking over to join the dancing, leaving his bags in the entrance. But Lando remained still as Carlos walked past into the kitchen, as the singing turned to happy greetings, even as Max found himself stood at Landos side.
"Mate, make sure you bring your jaw with you when you decide to join." Max recited - proud of himself for remembering the joke he had made. Lando fake laughed as he followed in step behind his best friend.
He brought his arms out as Aurora approached him with a large smile on her face before she wrapped her arms around his neck, bringing him close. On impact, Lando had stumbled back slightly but kept position as he wrapped his arms around her waist lifting her off the floor slightly. Hearing each others muffled laughs in each's shoulder made both feel at home.
"I missed you, Lan." Aurora mumbled into his shoulder as he placed her down.
This caused Lando's cheeks to turn a rosy shade before he brought his hand up to settle on her cheek, "I missed you two, Rory."
She pulled him in gently by his neck to plant a soft kiss to the corner of his mouth, then brought her hand down to his waist guiding him to greet her friends. He simply accepted her instruction as he walked over to Charles and Millie.
Whilst Lando was doing so, Aurora took her opportunity to say hello to the drivers she had met several times. It was Carlos who spotted her first as he opened his arms and grinned widely at the smaller girl, "Aurora." He sang whilst he swung his arms around her tightly, causing the girl to cough quietly, "Hey Carlos."
Pulling away, he whispered playfully, "How's my favourite wag?" And before Aurora could answer he interrupted once more with an even bigger grin on his face, "Official wag as well."
She only laughed as she tapped his chest, "She's good. How is my favourite driver?"
Before Carlos could answer, Charles came from behind wrapping an arm around Aurora pulling her into his side, "Now Aurora, don't lie to the poor boy. You'll get his hopes up."
Aurora found amusement in the pairs bickering as she found Lando's eye who also, was looking on at the pair in fondness. Beside him, Max was already looking at Aurora with a small smile on his face. Leaving Charles' side, she wandered over to her boyfriend and his best friend, opening her arms to Max, "My actual favourite driver."
Max smiled into her hair as he hugged her, "I knew it." He pulled away keeping his hands on her shoulders, "Just thought I'd let them think they were. More entertaining."
Aurora smirked at Max as she settled herself between Lando's legs where he sat on the island. She felt him immediately place his hands on her stomach, tapping along to the song that was playing, "It's good to be back." He said as placed his chin on her shoulder.
Aurora hummed in response, watching on as Will attempted to pour another glass of wine but instead pour it straight onto the floor whilst talking, unaware of what he was doing.
Max then made a noise of question from beside them, "Is it?"
