If you're meant to change the world they don't tell you. And if you realise you are, it's better if you don't tell them.

'RUN!'

The scream echoes in my ears as i was darting through the door and running down the hallway

'What happened? What's going on?'

I asked Nick as we were both running, a cloud of smoke and fire forming behind us

'They're bombing. They're gonna wipe this place off the face of Earth'

The smoke caught up to us as we took a left turn, and i started to feel dizzy, but i didn't let it stop me. I couldn't. It was not only my life in the game, because I'd rather die than have them catch me

'This way. It's the emergency exit'

A man in a white coat pointed. Nick walked through the door but i stopped

'Aren't you coming? '

I asked the man

'No. You're the rebels, you must be saved. We have to stay here and help rebuild.'

'This place won't exist by sunlight tomorrow and neither will any of the people inside. Come with us. Fight. We have to get our country back and wars take place on a battlefield, not in a lab'

Every word i said the smoke got into me more and more, i could barely hear and breathe and my eyes started watering

'Please '

I muttered as he nodded his head and walked through. The stairs were metal and led to the basement. Imagine a creepy horror film basement. Now imagine it ten times worse and you could be close to what this really was. I've been emprisoned before, for breaking the sacred law of 'always using protection', which in your eyes may look like a good one, but they only placed it to control the population. And yes, you could call me an idiot for getting caught. But i intended to. I didn't want to go to prison- i wanted to get in the Andromeda government building which, ironically, also contains the jail. Why, may you ask? You're just about to find out

'We need to get to Sahara'

'The desert!?'

'No, the Las Vegas hotel!'

Of course i was being sarcastic, but for those of you from the past who are wondering, yes, some cities were either conserved or rebuild. And of course the government decided which cities. Las Vegas, Paris, London and Sydney are still standing. I know there's more, but that's all i could get my hands on

'Yes, of course the desert. More accurate, we have to get under it'

'What? Isn't there a lake down there?'

'Lake my ass, that's where Andromeda keeps its weapons '

'How do you know that?'

'Prison. Breaking out. Stealing some information. Long story'

'Okay, there's a plane about 2 kilometers west from here, in the underground hangar. There's a tunnel leading there somewhere around here'

'An underground airship hangar? Who came up with this brilliant idea, mister....'

'Just call me Eric'

'Okay. Eric. Who's idea was it?'

'Actually it was a pretty good one. The ceiling opens in case of emergency. We should be able to get out that way'

'What about the rest? '

I dug my hand in my backpack and pulled out the pager

'When we get to the hangar, signal them.If there's any satellites still up they should receive it. They'll have one hour. Less, if Andromeda attacks again'

'And if they don't make it?'

'We'll search for them. We don't leave anyone behind '

'But the leaders are still after us. If we don't turn up dead after the bombing, they'll keep searching '

'And we'll keep hiding. And we'll fight them off. Look, i don't care about the country. I have to save the people.'
