Back to Zoe's POV
I didn't exactly remember everything and the way it happened. I threw that sword. It killed people. Then more died. And then they started running. I tried catching up, i tried looking around to see who was still alive, who was running. I finally set my eyes on Kim who was being escorted by a guard down the hallway. I ran up to them. The second the guard turned to me my fist flew to his face. He fell on the ground and i grabbed the gun from his pocket
"Stay right there and you'll be just fine!"
"O...o...ok"
The guy barely spoke and i almost felt sorry for him
"Let's go"
I waved to Kim
"What? This is living hell"
"Well, my friend, hell can be fun if you're with the right demon. Now let's go"
"Where?"
"Out of here and back to the Resistance's building. We're gonna take this place down"
"How about all these people? We can't just leave them here"
"Yes we can. They've left us before, remember? "
"How can you be so heartless? "
"I'm not heartless. I'm just using my heart less. And so should you"
She finally gave in and we started running down the main hall, until it separated into two smaller corridors
"Any ideas which way?" Kim asked
"Left"
I had studied some maps of this building years ago, when we had the luck of grabbing some during a little 'visit' at a factory. Luckily the information would still be up to date and the end would lead to the front of the building, which lead into the forest. And then that was our land
"WAIT! Wait for us!"
Four people were running behind us. Ben, Alison, James and Andrew
"C'mon! Run!"
Kim yelled at the top of her lungs. She would make a perfect cheerleader. Of course, that if we still had highschools, where football teams can play and cheerleaders can cbeer them. That will be on my list of stuff to change when we reconquer Andromeda. Along with, oh well, everything else...
The four finally caught up to us
"We checked the whole building. Noone else alive" Alison said
"What? How can that be..." Kim started but i stopped her
"No time for chit chatting. We gotta run for our lives"
We took off sprinting. Five hundred feet later, my hope was fulfilled. The door led to the forest.
We kelt running until it was almost sunset. We had made it quite far into the forest, but we were all pretty tired and there still was a long way to go.
"Okay" I started "This is what we'll do. We'll climb in those trees and sleep there. We'll continue running in the morning "
"Now it's the moment you two thank us" James spoke
"What for?"
They each threw a backpack in front of them, then Alison and Andrew handed me and Kim one
"Watch , compass, flaslight, rope, two sandwcihes, some random clothes, water, tea, sunglasses and hats, two hairbrushes somewhere and we even threw in some books in these"
"Nice. Packing supplies. Congrats. And thanks a lot"
We climbed the trees and settled in them. I found some large tshirts to serve as blankets and also put on a jacket and another pair of pants. I tied the rope around my waist and the tree trunk. I was gonna sleep unconfortably, but at least i wasn't gonna fall.
Finally, after we were all settled, i went through the stuff in my backpack in more detail, ate half a sandwich and discovered i had two books in my backpack . Due to the darkness i couldn't really distinguish the titles so i gave up on them, in order to see them better tomorrow
Finally, i fell asleep. I should've had a lot of worries on my mind. What if they catch us? Where are we gonna go? Do we have enough food? Enough water? What if the Resistance moved somewhere else? What if there was no Resistance and we were the only left?
But instead , i only had a calming thought on my mind. We are alive.
