As the days passed, Dev's condition started to improve. However, something alarming began to unfold. Dev started to forget the memories he had shared with Ruchika. The accident had taken a toll on his memory, and he began to confuse Ruchika with his old lost love, Raima.
Ruchika felt her heart shatter into a million pieces as Dev called her Raima repeatedly. She tried to hide her pain, understanding that it was not his fault, but it was difficult for her to watch the person she loved forget their shared moments and the love they had built together.
Pia, devastated by her brother's condition, sought medical advice. The doctors explained that it was common for patients with traumatic brain injuries to experience memory loss or confusion. They assured her that with time and therapy, Dev's memory might gradually return.
Ruchika refused to give up on Dev, even though she felt the immense pain of being a stranger to the person she loved. She decided to be there for him every step of the way, supporting him during his recovery and doing her best to trigger his memory.
Dev, in his confused state, could sense the love and dedication Ruchika showed him.
Although he couldn't recall specific memories, there were moments when fragments of his past with Ruchika would flicker in his mind. One evening, as they sat together in the garden, Dev looked at Ruchika with a spark of recognition in his eyes.
"Raima, there's something about you. It's like I've known you for a long time," he said, his voice filled with confusion.
Ruchika's heart skipped a beat, hopeful that a breakthrough was finally happening. She took a deep breath and replied gently, "Dev, my name is not Raima. It's Ruchika. We've known each other for years. We've laughed, cried, and built a beautiful life together."
Dev looked at her intently, trying to grasp the information she had just shared. Slowly, images started to resurface in his mind, like puzzle pieces falling into place.
"I remember... moments shared under the moonlight, laughter echoing in my ears, and your smile that could light up the darkest of days," he whispered, his voice tinged with a mix of excitement and relief.
Tears welled up in Ruchika's eyes as she realized that their love had managed to break through this news. It might affect Dev's health too.
Months passed, and Ruchika slowly began to regain his strength, but his memories remained locked away. He longed for something he couldn't quite grasp, a void that seemed to grow with each passing day. One evening, he stumbled upon an old photograph of Raima and himself.
As Ruchika stared at the photograph, a strange feeling washed over her.
There was a deep sense of familiarity, as if a missing puzzle piece had been found. Dev couldn't explain it, but something told him that this girl in the picture held a special place in his heart.
Driven by curiosity and an unexplainable connection, Ruchika decided to reach out to the girl in the photograph. With trembling hands, he dialed the number and nervously waited for a response.
"Hello?" a warm and gentle voice answered on the other end of the line.
Ruchika took a deep breath, his voice filled with uncertainty as he spoke, "Um, hi. I'm sorry if this sounds strange, but I found this old photograph, and I believe it's of you and me. I... I think we were close."
There was a brief pause, followed by a gasp of surprise. "Ruchika? Is that really you?" the voice replied, now tinged with a mix of disbelief and hope.
Ruchika's heart skipped a beat. "Yes, that's my name. Do... do you know me?"
The voice on the other end trembled with emotion. "Ruchika,"Yes, Ruchika, it's me, Dev," the voice replied, now filled with a mixture of excitement and nostalgia. "I can't believe I've finally found you after all these years."
Dev's mind raced, trying to process this unexpected revelation. Ruchika? The name sounded familiar, but the memories were hazy, buried deep within the recesses of his mind.
"Ruchika? We were close?" he asked, desperate for more information.
"Yes, Dev," Ruchika answered softly. "We were more than close. We were in love."
As Ruchika spoke those words, a flood of emotions overwhelmed Dev.
Feelings of love, happiness, and a profound sense of loss washed over him, as if a dam had burst open, releasing years of suppressed memories.
"I... I don't remember," Dev confessed, his voice filled with a mix of confusion and sadness. "But I want to. I want to remember everything."
Dev's voice softened, understanding the weight of Ruchika's words. "It's okay, Dev. We'll take this journey together. I'll share all the memories we had, and maybe we can piece together the missing fragments."
With Dev's acceptance,Ruchika realised Dev would remember her and their moments one fine day. Hoping to see good results, she moved to his house. Even relatives mocked them for staying together without marriage. But,Karan made them sign legal wedding papers and told them they would get mrried once Dev is fine and Pia returns.
Someone is going to bring Havoc in their lives... very soon. So stay tuned;))
