Things have not been alright between Lakshman and Urmila for the past few months. It has been a roller coaster of a year with multiple developments in all facets of their life. This rough patch in their relationship was expected but they were just figuring out how to get through it.
It was the 5th year of their marriage. This year marked a new phase in Ayodhya with governance changes, expansion and many events. Lakshman was always very devoted to his job. If anything at all, he and Ram were totally committed to the welfare of Ayodhya and it was their dream to bring about little changes in the system. Now was the time where slowly both of them had contributions to make. And they were committed to the process, completely.

Lakshman, slowly taking up the security and law & order had been traveling very frequently because of the expansions. He didn't remember many events from here as he was too busy dealing with the newer regions under Ayodhya. Kingdom visits, new policies, new training had kept him completely occupied. And this was the year where Urmila and him had the least number of interactions. It was strange but something that they had already discussed. Although a lot of things they discussed this year led to silly arguments, Urmila agreed and started investing in her own interests of visits to Mithila for Gyan Sabha and other art events.
However much Urmila tried to not keep any expectations in this relationship and support Laksh, she was still a woman who just wanted her husband's love and attention.
She never thought she would become so, but deep at heart, she accepted she was desperate for love.

Although she tried her very best to not let these feelings consume her and keep her mind occupied with things of her own, certain events would trigger her. And now she wondered if Lakshman had changed completely and would never return back to his older self who was expressive about his love for her. He was patient with her,he would listen to her gibberish with all the interest in the world, he would shower her with flowers without any occasion. His care was very evident. The way he cared for her, it was like she mattered too much. She loved that. And now nothing of that sort was happening. He was hardly home, he wouldn't spend too much time with her. And if she mentioned it, he would explain about the number of projects he is working on.

She had no complaints about his work, but it's just that she felt the intensity of love he had for her, it has reduced. Or in her worst fear, it had gone.

She didn't want to sound desperate. She saw women around, her friends, being desperate for their husbands' attention and would often think like 'Oh I would never become like that'.
Unfortunately, she was becoming that and she hated it.

Lakshman was dead serious about his career and while she thought even she was, she hated to agree thoughts of their relationship had completely occupied her mind and she hated herself.

Urmila had gone a lot more insecure due to these things. Intimacy was a long due question for them. Time was the key challenge and like for the past few times, Urmila felt like it meant nothing. It hurt her but she didn't show.

She just started to accept things as they are.
Until she saw one of the couples having their moments and she felt a heartache she couldn't really deal with.

Even then care for each other was like a duty. It bind them together. There was a force that made them care for eachother like a habit. They couldn't help it. And they could never think of life without each other. Except as a woman, Urmila did doubt if Lakshman one day just brings in other wife because of his frequent visits to neighbouring kingdoms. It was just her overthinking talking to her.

Lakshman, on the other hand, never thought about it. He was just waiting for things to slow down so that he could patch up with her. He wanted to have a heart to heart conversation and love her like before. He had unfinished hope. But he did not realise too much time had passed in this waiting and Urmila had kind of given up.
