Aria woke up to the sound of footsteps coming towards her cell. She looked up and saw a man standing in front of her. He had sea-green eyes and was holding a trident. Aria immediately recognized him to be Poseidon, the god of the sea.

"Happy Birthday, Aria," Poseidon said, with a smile on his face. Inside was a beautiful necklace! It was made of aquamarine and was on a golden chain, glimmering in the dim, reddish light. (The necklace above)

"It's beautiful," Aria said, admiring the necklace.

"I'm glad you like it," Poseidon said. "I have something else for you too." He took out a rag and a small vial from his pocket. Aria looked at them suspiciously.

"What is that?" she asked.

"It's just a sedative, Aria," Poseidon said, sensing her hesitation. "I need to take you away from here, but I can't do it without putting you to sleep."

Aria felt a sense of dread wash over her. She didn't want to leave Tartarus. It was the only home she had ever known. Yeah, her father wasn't the best father of the year, but he was still the only family she had! She couldn't just leave him here, alone to rot, now could she?

"I don't want to leave," Aria said, trembling.

"I know, but you have to," Poseidon said, gently. "You belong with your kind, Aria. You're a demigod, and you need to be trained to defend yourself against the monsters that will come after you. You are the daughter of Kronos, but you don't have to make his mistake. Even if he is your father, look at how he's treating you. He got you in a prison cell for Zeus's sake!"

Aria knew he was right, but it didn't make it any easier. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, preparing herself for what was to come.

"Okay," she said, finally.

Poseidon nodded and poured the sedative on the rag. He held it over Aria's nose, and within seconds, the darkness closed in. Aria fell into a deep sleep.
