Aurelia's heart fluttered as she looked at the email on her phone. It was a job offer, one that would allow her to leave the stressful job at Martin's, and pursue something new. She could feel the possibilities swirling around her, and she knew it was time for a change. She took a deep breath, then responded to the email with an enthusiastic "yes!" Aurelia was not surprised to see so many job offers, it was mostly during this season, job offers get high she had literally been applying for jobs for months now. She had been determined to find something that would be a better fit for her, something that would allow her to use her skills and passions. She had been disappointed many times, but she had kept going, never giving up. And now, it looked like her persistence was finally paying off.
Her eyes widened as she read the details of the job offer. The personal chef job offer was paying more than double what she was currently making at the cafeteria. It was a significant pay increase, and it would allow her to finally start saving for her own place. She had been living on rentals, unable to afford her own place, but now she could finally start planning for her future. The new job would also provide her with a sense of stability and security, something she had been craving for, for a long time. Aurelia reflected on her family situation, she erased the memory of her mother who had left her father for another man. She knew her mother had been unhappy for a long time, and that she had been working hard to make ends meet. But it was still a shock when she found out that her mother had left, and that she had taken up with another man. Aurelia felt a mix of emotions, from anger and disappointment to sadness and compassion. She knew it was a complicated situation, and that her mother was likely just trying to find happiness.
Her father on the other hand, had struggled with alcoholism for years, and was now in rehab. She knew her parents would be proud of her, for funding her way through survival and They had always supported her culinary aspirations. But she couldn't help but feel a little sad that she wouldn't be able to spend time with them. Her dad, especially.
Her first day was just a trial run, to see if she was a good fit for the position. The résumé told her to report back to the mansion at 8:00 a.m. the next day, and to be prepared for a full day of cooking and cleaning. She spent the evening studying menus and reading up on her new boss, trying to get a sense of her tastes and preferences. She went to bed early, her mind filled with thoughts of food and recipes. She promised to make a good impression, and prove that she was the right person for the job.
Hours passed and it was morning again. Her stomach was full of nerves and anticipation. She had chosen her outfit with care, wanting to make a good impression on her first day. She picked up a classic, yet modern outfit. The silhouette was simple, with a fitted bodice and a flared skirt. The fabric was light and airy, made of a blend of silk and cotton. The color was a deep navy blue, with tiny flecks of silver woven throughout. It was understated and elegant, perfect for the kitchen. The dress had a scoop neckline, and cap sleeves, with a simple row of buttons down the back. The hemline hit just below the knee, allowing her to move freely. She felt confident and comfortable in the dress, and it reflected in her easy smile.
She took a deep breath as she walked up to the door of the grand house, and a moment later it opened, revealing a warm and welcoming woman.
"Hello, you must be the new chef!" the nanny said, her voice full of excitement.
"Yes, I'm Aurelia Henderson. it's a pleasure to meet you," Aurelia replied, shaking the nanny's hand. "I'm Sarah, the head nanny here." The women chimed in. "Please, come in!" Sarah stepped aside, inviting Aurelia into the grand entrance hall."Mrs. Preston had been expecting you". Aurelia followed her through the lavish entranceway, her eyes wide with wonder and awe. Sarah led her through a set of French doors, out onto a patio. Beyond the patio, a massive garden stretched out in front of her, with trees, flowers, and even a small pond. The lawn, perfectly manicured, and the flowers were arranged in neat, colorful patterns. As she followed the nanny down a stone path, she noticed that the walls of the garden were made of glass, letting in the sunlight and providing a view of the sprawling grounds. It was truly a sight to behold.
