Tristan opened his eyes, only to be welcomed by bright white ceiling above him. He couldn't quite remember where he was, or how he had gotten there. Slowly, memories of the night before started flooding back to him. He remembered drinking too much, he remembered what he had said to Aurelia. He could recall being so angry, so hurt. He had said things he didn't mean, things he couldn't take back. He had told her to leave, to never come back. And now, he couldn't even think straight. What has he done? He had pushed away the one person who had been there for him, who had cared about him. He had ruined everything. He rushed to Aurelia's room, hoping that last night was a dream or a nightmare.
The sight of the empty room felt like a punch to the gut. He had been hoping, deep down, that she would still be there. But she was gone, and it was his fault. He felt a surge of panic as he searched the room, hoping to find some sign of her, some clue as to where she had gone. But there was nothing. She was truly gone. He sank to the floor, his head in his hands. He felt empty, like a part of him had been ripped away.
His shoulders began shaking as he tried to hold back the tears. But it was no use, and they started to fall, one by one. He couldn't stop thinking about all the things he had said, the hurt he had caused. It felt like he had lost everything, like he had made the biggest mistake of his life. He knew he had to find her, had to make things right. But he didn't even know where to start.
He rushed back to his room, almost falling down as he picks up his phone, He flings the phone across the room, and sinks back on the floor with his hand in his head -a habit of his when things go wrong. His phone hit the wall with a loud thud, the sound echoing in the silence of the room. But it was nothing compared to the crushing weight of his realization. He didn't have her number, didn't have any way to reach her. She was gone, and he had no way to fix it. He felt like he was trapped, stuck in this moment of despair. He had never felt so alone, so empty. He curled up on the floor, his bod shaking with sobs.
His wipes his face and descends down the hall, he could hear his mother talking to Sarah, asking about Aurelia. "Do you know where Aurelia is?" she was saying, her voice worried. Tristan's heart was racing as he stepped into the room. "I need her address," he said, his voice shaking. His mother looked at him, her eyes full of concern. "What's going on, Tristan?" she asked, her voice was soft. But he couldn't answer, couldn't explain. He just needed the address, needed to find her.
His car pulled up almost the front of her apartment. His heart sank as he saw Ryan and Aurelia together. Ryan unloading boxes from the back of the truck. He was wearing a pair of jeans and a t-shirt, his arms muscles flexing as he carried the heavy boxes. He looked happy, carefree, as if he didn't have a worry in the world. And there was Aurelia, beside him, smiling and laughing at whatsoever he was saying. He felt his stomach turn, his head spinning. He pulled his car to the side of the road, his hands gripping the steering wheel. He couldn't still understand what he was seeing, couldn't make sense out of it. He had hurt her, said terrible things to her, and yet here she was, with someone, as if hadn't completely messed everything up, as if she doesn't care.
The sight was like a knife to the heart, and he felt like he couldn't breathe anymore.
