epilogue: fate

"Hello. How may I help you?"

"Hi! I'd like an Iced Americano and a cream tart," the woman replies.

"One vanilla latte and a chocolate brownie for me, please," the other woman accompanying her says.

"Ok. You can take a seat and I'll bring them to you in a moment," Sunghoon lets them know with a smile.

"Thank you."

Sunghoon takes out a cream tart and a chocolate brownie from the display case and places them on plates, just as Jake emerges from the back of the café.

"Jake, we need more —" he glances at Jake before the latter cuts in.

"Coffee beans. I got you," Jake smiles, waving the bag he's holding. "What are we making?"

"Iced Americano and vanilla latte," Sunghoon replies, scooping out some fresh coffee beans.

He prepares the latte while Jake makes the Iced Americano.

"I'll take them," Jake offers when they're done.

"It's for table two."

Jake nods and grabs the tray, making his way towards the table. He places their order on the table and smiles. "Here you go. Enjoy!"

"Thank you — um," one of the women says, hesitating. "We're actually big fans of you and your group, Enhypen. I still listen to your songs all the time," she beams.

"Me too," the other one chimes in. "I was nineteen when I discovered your music and it helped me a lot through my twenties."

"Oh, thank you!" Jake exclaims happily.

"Will you ever release another song together?" the first woman asks.

"Ah, I'm not sure..." Jake says apologetically, and the woman frowns. "But, I can promise you that I'll talk to my members about it when we meet up."

The woman's face lights up again. "It would be amazing and I'm certain that a lot of us would love that!"

"Calm down, Sooha," the other one chuckles and turns to Jake. "We've bothered you more than enough, I'm sorry," she apologizes rather embarrassed.

"Right. I'm sorry."

"No problem," Jake shakes his head. "It means a lot to us that you're still a fan of our music after all these years and we love meeting you. So thank you and enjoy your coffee and desserts!" he leaves them with a grin.

"I can always count on you to entertain our customers," Sunghoon jokes as Jake reaches the counter.

"They told me they're big fans of us and our music," Jake says.

"Really?" Sunghoon quirks an eyebrow. "That's nice, especially after so many years."

"Aww, look at them," Jake utters, facing the two women. "They're holding hands, how cute."

"Ok, stop spying on our customers and get to work," Sunghoon pats his shoulder and.

"Nobody new came in the last ten minutes," Jake turns his head towards him when someone walks right in.

Sunghoon chuckles. "Don't forget you're closing early today."

"Remind me again why you're in such a rush to leave first?" Jake lifts his eyebrows. "They're not coming until tonight and our house is already tidy."

The other members are coming over to their house for a barbecue tonight and they've made the house spotless, thanks to Sunghoon's meticulous cleaning habits.
