It's been about three years since Jake and the members have visited Jeju Island, except for Jungwon, who came on a short trip last year. The only time Jake had been here was for the photoshoots for their debut album. Now they're filming the concept trailer for their fifth album, Orange Blood, which will be released in November. Time really does fly.The boys are up bright and early for the second day of filming, picking up where they left off yesterday, at the beach. Yesterday evening a downpour forced them to postpone some scenes, so they need to make up for it today. Despite the cloudy skies and the chance of more rain, they can't afford any further delays.
Jake and the members, along with Jiwon, the actress playing the role of Sooha in their trailers, are gathered on the shore, surrounded by plenty of staff. They're waiting to be called by the director and the filming crew.
Jake acknowledges all the hard work that goes into preparing everything, as it's only 8:30 a.m. and the staff has likely been setting up all the equipment since sunrise. This morning, he woke up, threw on the outfit given to him by the stylist, and sat in the make up chair for about thirty minutes, napping. That's why the staff's efforts have to be appreciated.
"Jake-ssi, Jiwon-ssi, let's start with you," the director says once the filming crew is prepared to shoot.
They're working with a famous director, Yu Kwang Goeng, whom they've previously collaborated with on the Dark Blood concept trailer, so they're rather familiar with his technique.
"Jiwon-ssi, you'll lift up Jake-ssi in the water to make it seem like you're bringing him to the shore," the director tells them.
Lift him up?
"Uh, director-nim, am I not too heavy for..."Jake glances between director Yu and Jiwon with uncertainty.
"Your body will be almost fully underwater so you'll be much lighter," director Yu replies.
"Don't worry, Jake-ssi. I'm stronger than I look," Jiwon sketches a smile and winks at him.
"Ok, shall we begin?"
"Yes," Jake and Jiwon nod in agreement.
Heeseung gives Jake's shoulders a reassuring squeeze while the members wish him good luck.
"You can do this, Jakey," Sunghoon smiles warmly and Jake beams widely in return.
Nearly three weeks have passed since Jake and Sunghoon started their relationship. It took Jake a couple of days to soak it in — that he wasn't dreaming and Sunghoon is indeed his boyfriend, that it's real.
Yes, his surprise might have been spoiled, but that's life — not everything goes according to plan, just like Jake's attempt to suppress his feelings failed. But what better surprise than discovering that Sunghoon still wanted the same thing as him.
Jake follows a staff member straight into the water. It's much colder than he expected for summer, but as he's been told, the ocean here in Korea is never warm as warm as it is in Australia.
Under Director Yu's guidance, the scene with Jiwon is filmed pretty quick, and Jake also concludes his solo scene in the water as well.
