Mila was looking forward to flying out to Bahrain for the first Grand Prix of the 2024 season. It would be her first time visiting and she was thrilled to be able to see her brother race for the first time in over half a year.
She was flying out with the Ferrari team to make it easy for logistics and she would be staying in the same hotel as Carlos, so she wouldn't be lonely. Her older brother was a source of comfort in her life as he was always a constant. Of course she had other family, her parents and sister Blanca, but she and Carlos were the only ones without a family of their own yet, so the connection between the two was just closer.
As she packed her bags, Carlos returned from Italy for the final time before Bahrain, they would fly out to nice tomorrow to pick up Charles and some of the crew from France, before flying to Bahrain. Mila finished packing her toiletries, leaving out the ones she would need in the morning, and walked into the lounge where she found Carlos dozing off on the couch.
"Carlito get up," she groaned as she pushed her brother up from where he was slumped on the sofa.
"Ay. Mils leave me be. I need my beauty sleep."
Mila giggled slightly, "I know you do Carlos, but you need to do it in your own bed, not sitting here."
She half-walked half-dragged her brother to his room and let him get into bed fully dressed. She wasn't changing him. Yuck. She went back into the lounge and turned on Netflix. She knew most of the drivers through Carlos, but she wanted to see more. She turned on Drive To Survive and only half paid attention.
There must be something about that couch.
Mila woke up with the sun beaming through the window, warming her skin as she shifted herself up. The "Are you still watching?" Screen showed on the TV before she turned it off. Her phone was dead. Great. She wandered into Carlos' room to see if he had a charger because she had already packed hers. He wasn't there. Weird.

Carlos had gone to get breakfast, and after they ate they finished up packing and headed to the airport.
Why am I so nervous? It's not like I'm doing anything I haven't done before. Only this time I'm starting a new job I guess. And there's the elephant in the room. Charles.

Mila had never been on a private jet like this before, it was larger than a usual tiny one, which made her less anxious as it was more of a city hopper size. She took a photo with Carlos to commemorate the occasion and sent it to the group chat of their family. The two played cards for a while, then Mila began to work on her first assignment for sky, making sure that the Spanish and French versions of their website were correctly translated. No, google translate can not do my job!
Her nerves calmed as they began their two hour flight. However they got even worse than before as they started to descend to the Nice airport.
Calm down Mila, you're going to be okay. It was a little crush eight months ago, it will have passed.

It hadn't passed, Charles stepped onto the jet and looked directly down the aisle, straight into Mila's eyes. She looked as beautiful as the night they had seen each other last, and Charles had to pull his eyes away from hers, the draw of her face, lit up by the last of the day's light pouring through the window of the jet, was mesmerising.
Oh my god. Mila thought, he was looking into her eyes, and she felt goosebumps on her arms. Why did he look at me first. Why did his eyes linger on mine for just long enough that I realised. What is that feeling in the pit of my stomach that tells me that this year might be much more than I agreed to when I signed the contract with sky.
