And I feel you there in the middle of the night,
When the lights go out and I'm alone again

"Hey mom, I'm just gonna be out for a little while tonight with some friends." Jennie yelled to her mom from up the stairs as she got her bag.

Mrs.Kim was quick to notice her daughters vibrancy tonight. The last time she checked, her daughter didn't have friends. She was also quick to notice the way her daughter had dressed to go out with some "friends".

Jennie was dressed in a small black dress and pair of small but expensive heels. Her hair was ruffled and her eyes had a hint of something dark in them. It was the first time in a while Jennie felt like she looked pretty. The first time in a while she actually put in effort.

Mrs. Kim was now hyper aware how much more attractive her 15 year old daughter was then her. She was her but better. Even Jennie became aware of how much her body was changing.

"You look like a prostitute." She huffs, tapping the butt of her cigarette on the ash tray, a layer of sweat gathered at her forehead.

Jennie's eyes dim a little at that.

"Mom..." Mrs. Kim cuts her off.

"Honey come over here! Tell me if you think our daughter looks like a prostitute!" She yells.

Jennie squints, fidgeting with her fingers. "Mom dad's not home right now."

Her mother was too drunk to remember the whereabouts of her husband. To drunk to see straight.

"Right. You're right. Of course you are."She husks, her words becoming slured and almost illegible.

"He's probably fucking his secretary." She slurs

Jennie knew her father wasn't faithful to her mother. She honestly didn't blame him. She didn't want to be stuck in a marriage with her either let alone be her daughter. This happened every night and it simply wasn't her problem to get involved in or care about in any way.

Jennie had her own life to care about.

Jennie checked her phone, she was late.

Jennie starts backing up, approaching the door but not without her mom noticing.

"Where are you going?"

Jennie hitches her breath, torn on whether to lie or tell the truth. She awkwardly turns around.

"Just out with some friends, I told you remember?"

Jennie's voice was sweet, patient and also very convincing. A stark contrast from her usual state of arguing and yelling.

"Girl friends or guy friends?"

Jennie rolls her eyes.

"Guy friends.."

Mrs. Kim suppresses a laugh and runs her hands through her hair.
