Think I like you best when your just
with me and no one else
—"Don't you dare come running back here when she ruins your life!" I close the door behind me blocking out the screams of my dad. Through the walls of my brick house I can still here my mom and dad arguing with each other.
I drag my suitcases down the stairs, having to take a break each time to catch my breath.
"Here let me help you with that." Lisa comes running out of her car and picks up a couple bags.
"Thanks a lot for meeting me so early Lis. Especially after all the craziness of graduation and stuff." She smiles at me.
"Are you fucking crazy?! I wouldn't miss saying goodbye to my best friend who's about to have the most epic summer without me! Who do you think I am?!" She let's out a sarcastic gasp. I laugh and punch her shoulder. We finally got to the bottom of the stairs, both our arms a little sore.
"Jesus y/n, you literally packed your whole closet."
"Yeah well I will be there for 3 months."
"You know I'm gonna miss you right?" She teases.
"Yeah yeah I know. But like I promised, I will talk to you everyday and send you every photo and buy every souvenir."
She smiles and lunges at me into a full hug, squeezing me tight.
"Your strangling me." I choke out.
"Just two more seconds." I try my best to laugh with the amount of oxygen I have.
She lets go and notices the yelling coming from inside. "I assume your parents didn't take it well?"
I wince. "Yeah their not to happy. I tried to assure them it's just for some money and a little adventure but it's hard to persuade them when they've been strict my whole life." She nods.
"I'll talk to them if you need me to. Keep them company. You are their only child after all."
"Thanks Lis. I really appreciate it."
She takes a deep breath in. "You better go before they come out and drag you back in there." I send her a bitter sweet smile and lunge into another hug.
"I'm gonna miss you so much Lis."
"Stay safe okay? AND DONT DO DRUGS."
"Ok mom."
"Don't be an ass. Let me help you with your bags."

Jennie: "Meet us at the airport. My managers getting anxious so hurry."I type back putting in a little more gas. "I'm omw. Be their in 10."
Me and Jennie had been briefly texting back and forth. Most of it about work. Lifeless conversation about scheduling and hotel rooms. I wondered how Jennie was gonna open up to me if she was being so closed off.
Jennie: "I'm at the food stand. Do you want me to get you anything before the plane?"
I feel pathetic as to how something so simple as her offering to get me food made my stomach clench.
I normally don't eat breakfast and actually hate having food before flights but who was I to reject Jennie's offer?
"Just get me a danish or something. Some sort of sandwich will be okay"
