gemma/3rd pov

i was walking around the school, it was too early for everyone to be here, just the early birds. i was looking for megan. it seems like megan or marty dont come to school anymore.

she watched as the the school continued to get more and more fuller. she watched her brothers come in and followed them down to the bomb shelter, were they always hung out.

the boys threw their bags on the table in the room. they both sat down in their usual spots. since montie and marty were freshman theyve had these spots and when leni got to the high school last year the seats were assigned. occasionally victor would join them.

victor was monties best friend. he was supposed to graduate last year, but he got reclassified to monties grade at the beginning of monties sophomore year. victor was also a summer fling the girl had.

gemma wasnt ready for a relationship after sarah and neither was victor. she enjoyed the summer, they both did. it couldn't last though, being friends with her brothers. she would never admit, but always had a bit of a crush on him, she just didnt like his carefree attitude, hes almost 19 and dosent have a plan, just redoing high school and plus he was into harder drugs. all gemma wanted was the devils flower, victor wanted the devils snow. they broke it up off 5 days before gemmas senior started.

"you know sarah texted me last night," montie said, taking his dab pen out of his back pocket.

"what did she want?," leni said, looking at his feet. sarah was a sensitive topic for all of them.

"that she wished she never left gemma," montie said, pulling up the texts on his phone.

"jesus, cant she just leave us alone," leni said, as montie passed him the phone.

gemma walked over behind the boy. she read the instagram dms with him.

"i cant believe she passed, it hurts so much seeing her go," leni said, very appalled.

my jaw dropped. cant believe that fucking bitch.

"hope she doesn't think we're cool now. shes still with that idiot," montie says.

the school bell rings and both boys look at eachother.

"ill see you at lunch," montie said, leaving the room with his backpack.

leni nodded, even though he couldn't see it and followed him out to the hallway.

gemma was walking around the school halls, trying to figure out which locker belongs to her ex girlfriend. she walked down the senior lockers, as gemma turned the corner she ran into someone.

"oh! im so sorry," i say, looking down and seeing it was dawn. she reached out and helped the girl up. "im so sorry," genma repeated.

"oh its okay, things happen," she says, shrugging it off. "what are you up to?," she asks.

"looking for someones locker," i say.

"sarahs?," she asked.

i jumped in place. i made sure i didnt tell anyone about sarah. "how do you know?," i ask.
