song of the chapter: homecoming by hey monday (part 2)

gemma/3rd pov

gemma, walked on the soccer feild of the school, earbuds in her ear. it was the ealry morning, gemma wasnt much of an early riser, death has made her one.

it was saturday morning, the saturday of the homecoming dance. gemma had plans to find some bud in one of the boys lockers, or a stranger, she didn't care. she wanted to curl up in her "bed" and watch random tiktoks on her phone.

chalrey came out of nowhere, he tried yelling the girls name, but she had earbuds in and was not paying attention. charley shaked her right shoulder, as the girl jumped and pulled her earbuds out.

"yes?," she said, half shaken. from charley.

"sorry to scare you. i was trying to call your name," he said.

"sorry about that," she said.

he shock his head, as telling her to forget it. "anyways, wanna help me pick a movie for movie night this week?," he asked.

"i thought movie night wasnt until wednesday?," she asked.

"yeah, but i dont know what to pick," charley complained.

"and you think i have great taste," i say, trying to remind him of the movie i picked.

"please?," he asked.

"yeah sure, why not," gemma said, put her earbuds in the red pocket hoodie. following charley to the library.

"you know they have a lot of dinsey movies," i say, looking at the cover of "fox and the hound" it was my favorite movie as a kid.

"oh yes, i remember when the school first got movies and a vhs player. i watched cinderella for like a week straight," he said, laughing.

"why cinderella?," i ask, putting "fox and the hound back"

"nostalgia," he replied shortly.

"fair enough,".

"honestly i thought you would ask what a vhs player is," chalrey laughed.

"hey! i was born in 2003, not 2013," i laugh, glaring at him.

"i dont know what you know," he said, raising his hands up in defense.

"exactly. i know all," she joked. "my family had one until i was in the first grade,".

"i dont know when they went out of popularity," he admitted.

"around the late 2000s," i state.

he nodded.
----
about an hour later, charley still had no movie, but we were having fun.

charley looked at the clock and then back at me. "hey do you wanna go to group it starts soon?," he asked.

gemma didnt always go to group. it was mostly about "moving on" and gemma wasnt ready to move on yet. she still feels like she had some living to do, she did. "isnt group not till later on weekends?," she asked.

"we changed the time due to homecoming," chalrey replied. that wasnt entirely true, group got canceled today, due to homecoming. chalrey just needed to get her to gym for another reason.

"yeah sure why not?," the girl said, walking over to were chalrey was to follow him.

the two walked out of the library and to the gymnasium.

when they got there gemma was confused. no one was in there and the chairs were not set up. gemma turned to charley. "chalrey what is going-," she tried saying, but another door in the gym opened, causing both of them to look that way.
