OVER TIME, THE CROWD in the rows of seats at the back of the room dwindled down less and less. Not much action had happened in a while, most of the remaining tributes were in hiding.

Evie sat at her desk for a while longer, hoping Treech would make another appearance sometime soon. Eventually, she would try and leave to see where Sejanus had disappeared too, but she was afraid to look away from the screen and miss something.

"Now, these record high temperatures aren't doing that fire that continues to burn out here in district nine any favors. I'll keep an eye on it." Lucky Flickerman was doing his second job the night, giving all the student, as well as the capitol citizens in their homes, a weather report.

She sighed before scrolling through the options on her monitor, observing the different items listed.

"In district ten, this warm front is gonna come down and collide here, squeezing out some drizzle." Evie let out a silent yawn of boredom, getting fed up with the way his voice droned on and on.

"And finally, in district twelve, a—"

A sound from the screen had the mustached man pausing his report, all eyes turning to see what was happening.

Evie couldn't help but feel relieved to see that it was Lamina who had begun to emerge from hiding. She hoisted herself out of the rubble, letting her eyes roam her surroundings for any signs of danger.

"Lamina." Evie looked over to Pup who was now sitting up straighter in his seat, now engaged upon seeing his tribute for the first time since the games started.

The young redhead on screen catiously made her way towards Marcus, who was still strung up on the beam. Her sad eyes looking up at him.

She quickly picked up a small axe that had been discarded in the bloodbath and a knife before beginning to climb up the side of the beam that Marcus hung from.

The whole room watched with bated breath to see what she would do.

Evie let her eyes drift to Pup to see his eyes were glued to the screen as Lamina stood overtop of Marcus. She slowly crouched down before leaning out, her hand reaching toward the boy from two. Her hand briefly hesitated, then she was gently lifting Marcus's head.

The boy took a small breath before opening his eyes and Evie's felt herself leaning in to see better. He was still alive up there. She could just barely make out his lips trying to form words.

"Please." He silently wept, and Lamina seemed to understand what he wanted.

She tilted his head away from her, exposing his neck and reached for the small axe on her hip.
