It's only over if I quit

Saber raced through the woods, Clarent shining in the moonlight. The blade had a thin cover of a strange purple liquid, but the liquid was seemingly dissipating into ash. He had his armor equipped, his gauntlets glowed under the lowlight. The fur of the snow leopard seemed to get brighter.

But he only had one thought on his mind.

'Let me be in time. Just this once.'

Earlier..

Idris watched his masters converse as he sat there, not physically, and tried to listen for any intruders. Even if there was a bounded field, he still didn't trust this level of security. Being a hunter and Troy taught him that, so did the loss of your family.

'Shut up, witch.' He thought as he felt his own presence feel darker, before a burning heat blew it away of course. The only gift he liked from Ares. Keeps other magicians, such as Medea and Circe, from altering him mentally and physically, or at least increased his resistance to it.

He put himself outside on the roof as he felt a presence just outside the bounded field. So he sped towards it to investigate, but before he even left the roof a blond haired man, utilizing what seemed like mercury, entered the bounded field. Saber couldn't even feel the bounded field react to his presence.

So he materialized and observed him. And from what he could see he was pissed, also covered in dust. He felt a presence sped towards him before getting behind him. And within a blink of an eye Lancer stood there.

"Lancer," Saber greeted as he watched the master of Lancer. Saber was dressed in casual wear, such as a black short sleeved shirt and cargo pants. On his feet were running shoes.

Lancer said nothing as he stood next to the crouching Saber. Lancer was still in his armor, though he didn't equip his spears. They watched his master as he arrived at the door and blew it open with his magecraft. Saber whistled at the display before he stood and summoned Clarent.

"I feel something.. wrong." Saber commented as he looked out into the woods, "As if the world is trying to kill this being. Do you feel it too, Lancer?"

Saber moved his eyes to look at him as he shook his head, "I don't feel anything. But I do feel weaker presences, most likely children, nearby. Why?"

"I think we have a bigger issue than each other." Saber simply stated as he dropped from the roof and moved to investigate the smaller presences Lancer felt.

"Do you know why children would be here?" He heard Lancer call out. Saber thought for a second before his eyes hardened.

"To lure us. This is a trap." Saber looked back at Lancer as he seemed to realize too, "It can't be Assassin, as he's already been eliminated. And it can't be Archer and Rider, as they don't seem like they would use children, well at least Rider. Archer looked like she didn't want to even be around other people. So that leaves just Caster. But who could Caster be?"

"And it's not me? You're confident on that?"

"You're a knight Diarmuid, you have honor." Saber said as he summoned the silver and red armor of Mordred onto his lower body. He didn't like children being used, the tale of his brother was forever fresh on his mind.

"You know my identity? Well, I'm honestly not surprised, especially with that blade." Lancer looked at Saber as he moved to his side, "Am I right or wrong, Mordred?"

Saber froze as he slowly turned to look at Lancer. A simple blank stare was all he gave, but his eyes held embers of a hatred long forgotten. Saber inhaled deeply before letting it out as he turned back to the woods. "Whatever, let's just save these kids."
