You entered the train and found the booth you know and love. Newt entered the booth just after you and sat beside you. He passed you a book, The Beginners Guide to Magizoology. "You lent me yours, so I thought I could lend you mine." He gave you his awkward side smirk and you took the book graciously. As you read it, he read from over your shoulder. He'd point to something every once in a while and add his own opinion. The book was surprisingly quite negative about all the animals but Newt told you that most people don't enjoy the creatures as much as he does. He only reads it for the information. He was so passionate his face lit up whenever he talked about it. You found it quite attractive. Not only was he growing into his looks, his personality was finally starting to come out to you. He was finally getting comfortable and you couldn't be happier.

"Y/n?" Newt asked as you studied in the storage closest, It was Saturday so your day was free.

"Yes, Newton?" You responded. It annoyed him when you called him Newton, though he didn't have a real issue with it.

"I want to show you something." He said as began going down the ladder.

"Don't leave without me." You said as you dropped your books and followed him. You both snuck out the main entrance of the school and ran down the large stone pathway. He led you to a place called, Bowtruckle Island. He then led you to the only tree that was on the small island.

"I've been here before, they know me, or else they wouldn't come out." He said as he reached his hand in a hole in the tree. A small Bowtruckle hopped on his hand and you both spent the day bonding with it. Newt decided that he'd grown too much of an emotional attachment to it to let it go and brought it with him off the island. The Bowtruckle seemed more than happy about that. Newt told you he had attachment issues.

"He?" You asked.

"Yes, I named him Pickett." He answered as he stared at him on his hand.

"When?" You asked again.

"About seven seconds ago." He answered and you chuckled. Pickett then became the newest addition to your little duo.

You and Newt were in DADA and began to learn the Riddikulus spell. You were doing great at hiding your wandless magic issue, though learning spells took much longer. You hadn't practiced Riddikulus at all and you had to do it in front of the entire class. Newt was in front of you and Leta was behind you.

Newt faced the Boggart and his was an office desk. Dumbledore asked what his fear was and Newt responded by saying: "Working an office job." You chuckled and watched as it turned into a dragon. It was then your turn. Dumbledore grabbed for shoulders and assured you that's it's only a Boggart and it can't hurt you. You waited for the Boggart to take form. You thought it might have been a spider, or maybe a shark, but it was Grindelwald.

"Hello daughter." The Boggart said. The classroom gasped and so did you.

"Riddikulus!" You shouted. Though in your rush to get rid of it, you didn't hid the fact you didn't use a wand. You realised your mistake just after you did it. You turned to Dumbledore as the chatter began: "Is Grindelwald her father!?" "Was that wandless magic!?"

You bolted out of the classroom, sending Newt a sorry glance as you ran past. "That's enough for today class, revise for the quiz next lesson." Dumbledore said as he bolted out after you. Newt ran out with him, even after he ordered him to stay in the classroom.

You had hid in the storage closet, hoping no one would find you. Newt slammed the door open and rushed up the ladder. You were holding your knees to your chest and you head was down. You looked up as Newt entered. "I should've told you..." You sighed in disappointment. You weren't crying, though you wanted to.

"I don't think of you any different." He said as he sat in front of you. You opened your arms for a hug which he graciously returned. He never hugged you or touched you unless you did it first, it was just his way of respecting your boundaries. You then looked over to notice Dumbledore who was half up the ladder.

"What do I do? The whole school will know by tomorrow." You ask Dumbledore as you tried to stay calm.

"You only have four more years left, if anyone gives you trouble, come to me. No more fighting people. You wont have to hide your wandless magic anymore but I'd suggest laying low while I sort this out." Dumbledore answered and you nodded.

During the remainder of the year, a plethora amount of things happened. You were kicked off the Quidditch team, people avoided you in the halls, all your dormmates changed rooms as they felt unsafe, but, one person stayed. Leta. You had the five bedroom dorm room all to yourselves. You grew quite close as you bonded over being outcasts of the school. She began to hang out with you and Newt more, though she did mostly keep to herself. You both had Ancient Runes class together and you carved your initials into the underside of the desk. You helped each other in many other subjects as well.

Despite everything, you gained a new friend, and as you said: "You don't need to be popular, you just need one or two good friends."
