*I'm changing the perspective cause I feel like this one is easier to read.*

Classes had started and you were doing very well...in most of them. Anything to do with spells you couldn't manage to do (This is first week btw). You were great with potions, Herbology was your best, you hadn't tried flying yet, DADA was fine for you in theory but not when practical came around, same with Charms and Transfiguration. Anything to do with casting a spell, nothing happened. You hadn't talked to Newt much the first week and as it was the weekend you tried to find him so you could spend some time together. You wandered the halls mindlessly until you found him.

"Newt!" You called from behind him. Though you both were only 11 at the time, he was considerably taller than you. "I need your help." You both walked to the courtyard and you explained what was happening.

"So, what is it?" He asked as he sat down on a bench, with you standing in front of him.

"I can't cast spells." He sent you a confused look. "I mean, I genuinely can't do anything with my wand. I'm great in Potions, Herbology and any other theory work, but I can't do anything with my wand."

"Let me try it, maybe it's broken." He suggested. He was excelling in Charms. You know this since you sit next to each other. You handed him your wand and he grabbed a small rock off the ground. "Wingardium Leviosa." He spoke with a small swish of the wand. The rock began float and he dropped it into your hand. "It's working for me, you try." You did exactly what he did, but nothing happened. "You doing everything right..." He thought for a moment. "Maybe we should see a teacher?" He suggested.

"Yes, lets go see Dumbledore" You told him and began to walk off to Dumbledores office.

"Why Dumbledore?" He asked as he followed behind you.

"He's my favourite." You said as he caught up to you. You couldn't tell him the truth, not yet anyway. You both made it to Dumbledore's office. Seeing that the door was wide open, you walked into the DADA classroom and up the stairs. You knocked on the door and waited for him to answer.

"What is it, Y/n?" He asked as he ushered you both inside.

"I can't do magic." You told him blankly.

"You've only been here a week, you'll get better at it soon, don't worry." He assured you.

"No, I mean I can't do spells, at all." You said again. "I wave my wand and nothing happens. Newt tried it and it worked for him, but it doesn't do anything for me."

"Show me." Dumbledore said as you pulled the rock from you pocket. You had no clue why you brought it with you, but you did. Newt did the spell perfectly and you did the exact same thing and nothing happened, as per usual.

"You did everything correctly." Dumbledore sighed as he stood up.

"That's what I told her." Newt piped up. Though his eyes were darting around the room everywhere, he was clearly paying attention.

"The wand isn't broken, clearly." Dumbledore added. His head popped up like he just had an Idea. "Have you taken flying yet?" You shook your head. "Well, lets go test something now."

Dumbledore took the both of you out to where the flying lessons were held. He got a broom and placed it on the ground next to you. "Now, hover your hand over the broom, and say up." He explained.

You took a deep breath and focused. "Up!" You shouted and the broom flew right up into your hand. "I can do magic..." You sighed under your breath and sent a surprised look to Newt, who also returned the look. Though, he still didn't completely look at you. You could tell when he wasn't looking at you properly.
