Sheryna had been thrilled when Lily and Alex hit it off on their first date. They had so much in common and seemed to have a real connection. But as she continued to work with them, she started to sense that something was off.

One day, while talking with Lily over the phone, Sheryna mentioned that she thought Alex was a great match for her. But instead of being happy, Lily seemed hesitant and withdrawn.

"Is everything okay?" Sheryna asked, sensing that something was wrong.

"I don't know," Lily replied. "There's just something about Alex that I can't put my finger on."

"What do you mean?" Sheryna asked, trying to get more information.

"It's just that we have a history together," Lily said, her voice trailing off.

Sheryna was taken aback. She had no idea that Lily and Alex had a history together. She had assumed that they were two strangers who had met through her matchmaking service.

"What kind of history?" Sheryna asked, her curiosity piqued.

"We used to date," Lily said, her voice barely above a whisper.

Sheryna was stunned. She had never encountered a situation like this before. She had always been careful to match people who had no history or baggage with each other.

"I had no idea," Sheryna said, trying to keep her voice neutral. "Why didn't you tell me before?"

"I didn't think it mattered," Lily said, her voice tinged with sadness. "I thought we could just start fresh and see where things went."

Sheryna knew that this was a delicate situation. She didn't want to ruin Lily and Alex's chance at happiness, but she also didn't want to cause any more pain or hurt.

She decided to talk to Alex about it, hoping that he could shed some light on the situation. But when she broached the subject with him, he seemed just as surprised as she was.

"I had no idea that Lily and I had a history together," he said, his voice filled with confusion. "We must have dated a long time ago, before I even joined your service."

Sheryna was relieved that Alex didn't seem to have any ill intentions, but she still didn't know what to do about Lily's reservations.

She decided to set up a meeting with both Lily and Alex, hoping that they could talk things out and clear the air. But things only got worse. The tension between them was palpable, and they ended up arguing and storming out of the meeting.

Sheryna was devastated. She had tried her best to salvage the situation, but it seemed like there was no way to resolve the tension between Lily and Alex.

In the end, she decided to let them go their separate ways. She knew that it was better to end things now than to let them continue on a path that was filled with uncertainty and tension. She hoped that they could both find happiness and closure, even if it wasn't with each other.

As she reflected on the situation, Sheryna realized that matchmaking was not always easy. There were so many variables to consider, and sometimes things didn't go according to plan. But she also knew that she had to keep trying, to keep helping people find love and happiness.

And who knows? Maybe someday Lily and Alex would cross paths again, and this time things would be different. But for now, Sheryna had to accept that some matches were just not meant to be.
