Feng Xiao sighed after walking out of the restaurant.

"Thank you very much, Lord Pan. You've made me ditch my delicious meal."

As Feng Xiao was approaching the carriage, a young fellow blocked his path. He was dressed like a bodyguard, with a sword hugged to his chest. His stance was firm, gaze somewhat domineering.

"Greetings, Young Master Xiao," the stranger greeted.

Feng Xiao squinted. "Have we met before?"

The youngster smirked. "Not really. My master requests your presence. I'll have to trouble you."

"And who's your master?" Feng Xiao asked, wary

"You'll know when we get there."

"Insolence!" Bai Rongxuan chimed in. "Do you expect my young master to blindly follow you to some unknown location? Why can't your master come himself if he wants to see him?!"

The youngster cocked his head. "I'm only following orders. As a fellow bodyguard, you should understand."

"Even so, you shouldn't be rude about it. You're talking to the Feng family's Young Master. If not your uniform, I would've mistaken you for your master," Bai Rongxuan defended bravely, eyes blazing.

The youngster's smirk widened. "what's all the fuss? Just follow me and I'll take you to my master."

"And what if we decline? What are you and your master going to do about it?" Bai Rongxuan said tightly, already in a full-blown challenge mode, gradually losing his patience.

The youngster spoke after a moment of silence, his voice low and certain.

"Young Master Xiao will not decline," he said, facing Feng Xiao with an irritatingly confident smile.

"Presumptuous!" Bai Rongxuan flared.

"Oh boy, you're quite dutiful at protecting the courtesan's son." The youngster taunted, eyes flashing with mock surprise.

Feng Xiao's ears tingled upon hearing the word 'courtesan.' He never understood why people called his predecessor's mother that. He clenched his fists, bile rising in his throat. The old Feng Xiao had totally lost his respect among nobles due to this background, and now inheriting this mess, he was determined fix that.

Bai Rongxuan was equally exasperated, face darkened with fury.

"Shut up!"

Bai Rongxuan aggressively maneuvered his sword, veins popping out on his forehead and neck. The youngster happened to possessed lightning-fast reflexes as he evaded with ease. Releasing his sword from the hug, only three quick moves were enough to force Bai Rongxuan to stumble back. His martial arts were clearly superior.

Feng Xiao looked at the fellow and said, "young man, you boldly asked me to meet your master without courtesy and then assaulted my guard on top of that. That's not polite of you."

"He made a move on me first," the youngster replied with a shrug.

Feng Xiao did not want his martial arts ability known. He already found the fellow's arrogance a nuisance and wanted to know which master had employed such an arrogant guard.

After a thought, he said, "take me to your master."

The youngster displayed a smug smile screaming victory as he turned his back. "Follow me."

Feng Xiao's face grew cold. "I'd rather you don't say a word on the way, or else don't blame me for being rude."

The youngster's smile receded. The kind of Feng Xiao he'd heard about was timid, easily cowed. Being warned by a supposedly spineless person left him befuddled. Such peculiarity forced him to seal his lips for the rest of the walk.
